Alert in the fuel market: Analysts and a former director of ANP warn that oil prices may worsen in the coming months due to global instability.
The fate of the FPSO P-71—whose topside is undergoing integration work at the shipyard—was open between Lula FR and Itapu, although according to Petrobras’s current business plan, the state-owned company has already opted for its allocation in Itapu.
According to information from the Federal Court of Accounts, Petrobras intended to use the FPSO P-71 in the onerous assignment project, but aiming to maximize profits, the oil company decided to backtrack.
Allocating the P-71 to Itapu will delay the first oil from the FPSO by seven months and reduce the Net Present Value (NPV) expected for the project by US$ 173.2 million.
In the current strategic plan (2020-2024), the P-71 is allocated to the Lula FR Project and the unit is an asset belonging to the consortium formed by Petrobras, Shell, and Petrogal.
According to Petrobras’s PN 2020-24, the first oil from Lula FR and Itapu is expected in 2022 and 2024, respectively. The start year for production in Itapu has already been changed at least four times: from 2021, according to the PN 2017-21, to 2022, 2023, and 2024 in subsequent plans.
Itajaí Terminal Delivers Last Module of Petrobras P-71 Platform
Last Thursday (11), the last module of Petrobras’s P-71 platform left Itajaí, in Rio de Janeiro, and headed to the Jurong Aracruz shipyard (EJA) in Espírito Santo, where it will be integrated with the other modules of the unit, which represent the set of equipment and valves responsible for the FPSO’s operation.
In May 2019, the Locar barge V suffered a partial capsizing while transporting two power generation modules of the P-71. The last module drifted in Itajaí, waiting for a direction for almost a year at the Braskarne port terminal.
The hull of the FPSO P-71 was built in China and delivered to Petrobras in March of this year, where it is at EJA for the installation of the other modules, finalization, and commissioning of the platform.
