Three New Routes Will Have, Together, 515 Km of Pipelines and Will Serve for the Flow of Natural Gas Produced in the Pre-Salt of the Santos Basin
The Secretary of Oil and Gas of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Márcio Félix, declared in Houston, during OTC 2019, that Petrobras is studying the construction of more pipeline networks, which will be called Route 4, 5, and 6.
The routes would help with the flow of natural gas produced in the Pre-Salt of the Santos Basin; currently, Petrobras has Route 1, 2, and 3.
The new pipelines have the capacity to flow up to 45 million m3 per day of natural gas, and according to the initial study, they would have a length of 515 Km.

The New Routes
According to the Secretary’s presentation, Route 4 will connect the production of the pre-salt to Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo, with a 275 km pipeline. The project would have a capacity to flow between 10 and 15 million m3 per day of natural gas and has been in the environmental licensing process since 2014, with COSAN (the parent company of Comgás, the natural gas distributor in the state of São Paulo) as responsible.
Route 5 is a pipeline that will connect the production of natural gas from the pre-salt to the Port of Açu, in northern Rio de Janeiro.
GNA (Gas Natural Açu) is building a natural gas hub with thermoelectric plants and LNG terminals. The branch would have the capacity to flow between 10 and 15 million m3 of natural gas per day and will have a length of 120 Km.
Route 6 will connect the pre-salt production hub to the Porto Central, in the city of Presidente Kennedy, in Espírito Santo. The branch would also have a capacity to flow between 10 and 15 million m3 of natural gas per day and will have a length of 120 km.
The project in Espírito Santo is a joint venture between the Port of Rotterdam and TPK Logística and received a license from Ibama in August 2018.
