With An Investment Of US$ 23 Billion, Petrobras Will Invest In The Revitalization Of The Campos Basin, Aiming To Double Production To 1 Million Boed By 2035.

Petrobras announced an ambitious revitalization plan for the Campos Basin, aiming to double its production of oil and natural gas in the region by 2035. The goal is to reach a mark of 1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), double the current 500,000 boed. The information was revealed by Sylvia dos Anjos, director of Exploration and Production at the company, during the seminar “The Strength of Oil from Rio de Janeiro,” promoted by the State Secretariat of Energy and Economy of the Sea.

Petrobras Announces Investment Of US$ 23 Billion To Boost The Campos Basin

To achieve this growth, Petrobras expects investments of around US$ 23 billion by 2029 through the Campos Basin Revitalization Program.

The project includes the modernization of platforms, recovery of mature reservoirs, and application of new technologies to increase production efficiency in the region, which was once the country’s main oil producer.

International Expansion: India Enters The Radar

In addition to focusing on the revitalization of the Campos Basin, Petrobras also aims to expand its operations internationally.

India has entered the state-owned company’s radar, with new deepwater exploration areas being evaluated.

According to Sylvia, the company is studying participation in two auctions set to take place in the Asian country, with the first bidding possibly happening as early as June. The areas under analysis have depths ranging from 300 to 1,500 meters.

New Horizons In The Equatorial Margin

Sylvia dos Anjos also commented on Petrobras’ next steps in the Equatorial Margin, more specifically in the Foz do Amazonas Basin.

The company is set to soon begin the removal of coral from the ODN-II rig, which will be used to drill an exploratory well in block FZA-M-59, in Amapá.

After this stage, the company awaits authorization from Ibama to carry out the Pre-Operational Assessment (APO), a simulation essential to test the response to potential oil spills.

With the revitalization of the Campos Basin and new international movements, Petrobras reinforces its strategic role in the global energy matrix.

The combination of robust investments and geographical diversification shows that the state-owned company is determined to consolidate its presence both in the domestic and foreign markets, keeping Brazil in a prominent position in oil and gas production.
