Petrobras contracts two new FPSOs for Marlim and the units will be chartered with Modec and Yinson and should start operating in 2022 and 2023, respectively

Petrobras announced this Tuesday that it signed a letter of intent with Modec and Yinson for the charter of FPSOs Marlim 1 and Marlim 2, which will be part of the project to revitalize the mature field in the Campos Basin. The platforms will have the capacity to process up to 80 bpd (FPSO Marlim 1) and 70 bpd (FPSO Marlim 2) of oil and 7 million m³/day (FPSO Marlim 1) and 4 million m³/day (FPSO Marlim 2) of natural gas.

The start of production is scheduled for 2022 and 2023. The units will be operated and chartered for 25 years.

The revitalization plan for the Marlim and Voador fields, a Petrobras project that involves the removal of nine FPSOs and the installation of two new units, should start in 2019. But deadlines are tight to maintain the entry schedule for the new FPSOs in 2021 , as provided for in the company's business plan.

The Marlim revitalization project provides for the drilling of 10 new wells, four wells for the first platform and six wells for the second platform. From the current Marlim drainage network, it is planned, for FPSO Marlim 1, the relocation of 21 producer wells and 17 injection wells, which will be interconnected through submarine manifolds, with the exception of four producers and two injectors that will be connected directly to the FPSO .

For FPSO Marlim 2, the relocation of 19 producer wells and 15 injection wells is planned, which will be interconnected through subsea manifolds, with the exception of four producers and one injector that will be connected directly to the FPSO.

The Marlim field, discovered in January 1985 with the drilling of well 1-RJS-219A, is located in the northeast portion of the Campos Basin, on the north coast of the State of Rio de Janeiro, about 110 km east of the Cape of Sao Tome. The field is in a water depth that varies between 650 and 1.050 meters, and occupies an area of 149,4 km².

To the northwest of Marlim is located the Voador field, with water depths ranging from 400 to 700 m and occupying an area of approximately 21 km². The discovery was made by wells RJS-377 and RJS-403 in August 1987 and May 1989, respectively.
