Petrobras Announced a Robust Investment of R$ 35 Billion in Espírito Santo by 2029, Promising to Create 3,500 Direct and Indirect Jobs in the State. The Plan Envisions Maintaining the Current 9,800 Jobs, Boosting the Local Economy and Strengthening the Production Chain of the Oil and Gas Sector.

This announcement was made by the general manager of the state-owned company’s business unit in Espírito Santo, Guilherme Sargenti, during an event at Petrobras’ Vitória Building, gathering industry entrepreneurs to present the strategic plan for the coming years.

Billion-Dollar Investment Plan by Petrobras in Espírito Santo

Petrobras intends to expand its operations in Espírito Santo, investing R$ 35 billion by 2029. This amount will be allocated to various projects, including the expansion of oil production and the modernization of extraction infrastructure.

Currently, Petrobras’s Espírito Santo unit employs about 9,800 people, including permanent and contracted staff. With the new projects, this number is expected to grow significantly, creating opportunities for professionals from various fields, both technical and support.

Expansion of Oil Production and Interconnection of New Wells

The FPSO Maria Quitéria is a floating oil production unit installed in Parque das Baleias, Espírito Santo. The platform started its operations at the end of last year and is expected to reach its maximum production capacity in 2026, contributing to the increase in oil extraction in the region.

Petrobras has an ambitious plan to double the interconnection of wells in Espírito Santo, increasing from the current 86 to 162 by 2029. This increase will allow production to jump from the current 225,000 to 250,000 barrels per day to over 400,000 barrels per day.

Among the most relevant projects are:

  • FPSO Maria Quitéria, in Parque das Baleias, which started production at the end of last year and is expected to peak in 2026.
  • Raia Project, a partnership with Equinor that promises to expand oil extraction in the region.
  • Revitalization of the Albacora field, managed by the Espírito Santo unit but located in Northern Rio de Janeiro.

These investments aim to consolidate Espírito Santo as a strategic hub for Petrobras, ensuring greater efficiency in oil production.

Impact on Job Creation and Opportunities

With the expansion of Petrobras’s activities in the state, it is estimated that 3,500 new jobs will be created in the oil chain. These job positions will encompass from technical positions to logistical and operational support roles.

Among the most demanded professions are:

  • Technicians in mechanics, electrical systems, and assembly.
  • Crane operators and offshore logistics personnel.
  • Professionals in hospitality, food services, and general services.
  • Maintenance, repair, and construction specialists.

In addition to the creation of direct jobs, the positive impact will be felt in various sectors of the economy, such as transportation, hospitality, and food services, due to the growth of offshore operations.

New Opportunities from Petrobras for Local Suppliers

In addition to the impact on job creation, Petrobras’s investments will bring significant opportunities for local suppliers. In 2024, around 550 local companies were contracted by the state-owned company, receiving a total of R$ 2.32 billion. For the coming years, this number is expected to grow, with a projected amount of R$ 5.24 billion in new contracts.

This economic activity reinforces the importance of training the local workforce so that professionals can take advantage of these opportunities. According to Sargenti, there is a growing demand for skilled workers, both in technical areas and in support sectors.

Companies providing services for the naval industry, maintenance and construction will see a significant increase in demand, further strengthening the Espírito Santo economy.
