Port Terminal of São Mateus (CPSM) in Espírito Santo Has Changes in the Project, and Petrocity and Odebrecht Show Optimism
As Click Petróleo e Gás reported on January 17, the contract between Petrocity Portos and Odebrecht for the construction of the Port Terminal of São Mateus, in Espírito Santo, was signed.
Since then, the project has evolved and gained modifications that, according to Odebrecht and Petrocity, will enable greater efficiency in operations.
Changes were made in logistics regarding the arrangement of the yards and in the suspended bridge of the port, which will now extend 1.8 km from the beach.
According to Petrocity’s president, José Roberto Barbosa da Silva, this change will favor cabotage in relation to cargo transshipment and was an implementation carried out in cooperation with Odebrecht.

The president also emphasized that the partnership with Odebrecht was of utmost importance as the suspended bridge will allow vessels to stay further away from the beach, which benefits the relationship with the environment.
The reduction of dredging was also mentioned as another way to lessen the environmental impact, as the material to be dredged has decreased by 10% with the new bridge.
Environmental Licensing
To obtain the license and consequently the release for the start of construction, the CPSM is still awaiting the results of the analysis of the material submitted to the responsible agency.
All mobilization for the construction of the Mega Port of São Mateus will begin from there, Petrocity and Odebrecht assured.
Job Creation
The President of Petrocity stated that starting in July, they will begin to receive data and information about companies and professionals who wish to contribute to the project.
According to him, Augusto Coelho will handle the administrative aspect, and Odebrecht will manage the port, but he would like to involve other companies that wish to join Odebrecht and opened possibilities for companies from the northern and northwestern regions of Espírito Santo, eastern Minas Gerais, and southern Bahia.
Petrocity Portos has a link on its website for the ombudsman where interested parties can find information about the venture or even send their emails and addresses to participate in the project.
