The Shark is equipped with a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine with 192 hp and two electric motors – a front one with 228 hp and 31.6 kgfm and a rear one with 201 hp and 34.7 kgfm – totaling an impressive 480 hp. This configuration makes it the most powerful mid-size pickup in the world, with torque estimated at around 70 kgfm. All-wheel drive is always available, providing instant torque and excellent maneuverability, features valued in off-road conditions.

Autonomy and Efficiency of the New BYD Truck
One of the highlights of the Shark is its autonomy. Thanks to the innovative arrangement of battery cells, the pickup can travel up to 100 km in pure electric mode. In hybrid mode, the range reaches 840 km. BYD is also working to adapt its hybrid system to ethanol, which could increase its attractiveness in the Brazilian market.
The Shark offers a range of advanced technological features. The pickup has a digital instrument cluster and a multimedia center that totals about 23 inches. With a length of 5.46 meters and a wheelbase of 3.26 meters, the Shark offers generous interior space. The flat floor, free of a driveshaft, provides additional comfort for backseat passengers. Up front, the central console is inspired by a spaceship, with attractive and easy-to-use buttons. The flat-bottomed steering wheel and incomplete spokes add a modern and functional aesthetic to the pickup’s interior.
Performance and Driving
During the test drive in Mexico City, the Shark demonstrated excellent comfort and agility. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, offering good performance on accelerations. The double A-arm suspension, both front and rear, brings the Shark close to an SUV, ensuring a smooth drive on rough terrains. The terrain mode selection and 360º cameras facilitate off-road driving, providing robustness and reliability.
