First Piracanjuba Factory in the Northeast: Company Announces Purchase of Manufacturing Unit in Sergipe and Promises to Generate Hundreds of New Direct and Indirect Jobs.
The Piracanjuba group made a significant move to strengthen its presence in the Northeast by announcing the purchase of the Sergipe-based company Natulact, located in the municipality of Nossa Senhora da Glória, a city with just over 41,200 inhabitants, according to the 2022 Census of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
This will be the first Piracanjuba factory in the Northeast, focusing on the production of cheeses and dairy products. The venture also promises to generate hundreds of direct and indirect jobs.
Piracanjuba Manufacturing Unit Promises to Generate About 260 Jobs
With the new unit, the company expands to eight the number of factories in operation in the country, the others being distributed across the Midwest, Southeast, and South. The unit in Sergipe will enable greater distribution capabilities and reinforces Piracanjuba’s commitment to expanding its operations in Brazil.

According to Luiz Cláudio Lorenzo, president of the group, the strategic location of Natulact was decisive for the purchase, given that it is in one of the largest dairy basins in the region. Lorenzo explains that this will be the first Piracanjuba factory in the Northeast, demonstrating the company’s commitment to expansion in the region. Thus, the company will become much more competitive.
The Group’s unit is located about 115 km from the capital Aracaju and currently generates 260 direct jobs, mainly in production activities. The expectation is that the transition will preserve all job positions and consolidate relationships with local milk suppliers, who will be individually supported by the company’s team.
The group’s goal with this Piracanjuba factory in the Northeast is to initially maintain the line of cheeses and other products already produced, with the intention of expanding both the portfolio and production capacity in the future. This will begin with the Natulact brand and will gradually be replaced by the Piracanjuba brand.
Understand the Importance of Piracanjuba’s Arrival in the Northeast
Thus, the company’s arrival in the northeastern market represents more than a business expansion, as it is a strategic investment in a region with great agro-industrial potential that promises to generate various jobs. Therefore, the Northeast has growing dairy basins, available labor, and developing logistics, factors that contribute to strengthening the local production chain.
Additionally, the investment in the new unit contributes to regional socioeconomic advancement, generating jobs, valuing local production, and encouraging small rural producers.
The entry of large industrial groups like Piracanjuba solidifies the Northeast’s role as a promising new frontier for the food industry in the country. The company, which processes up to 6 million liters of milk daily, seeks to expand its presence and explore one of the largest dairy basins in the region.
Natulact has over 30 years of operation and the purchase is still subject to approval from the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade). Earlier this year, the company announced the construction of a factory in Paraná focused on whey protein and dairy products, consolidating its bet in the billion-dollar market for supplements and functional beverages.
The company’s most recent acquisition was the startup Emana, specialized in supplements, which has Rodrigo Hibert among its partners.
