5G technology comes with various innovations. Due to the low response time (latency) and high speeds provided by pure 5G, there will be more resources for transportation and logistics services. In agriculture, it will be possible to know which cultivation areas need more water or fertilizer through sensors. Additionally, it will be possible to predict the harvest through drone images.
In telemedicine, the technology could be included in surgeries. In cities, it will be possible to remotely control traffic, water, sanitation, and lighting. In Curitiba, for example, smart solutions have already been studied to control traffic lights. Thus, waiting time would no longer be predefined but proportional to vehicle movement.
A study by Omni predicts that Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) may increase by R$ 6.5 trillion by 2030, provided all applications of 5G technology are implemented in the country. The operators Vivo, Claro, and TIM anticipate investments of about R$ 150 billion in the creation of 5G networks over the next 8 years.
