Vale’s Objective With New Hires From Schneider Electric and Aveva Is to Optimize Mine Safety and Production Process
Vale plans to integrate, centralize, and remotely monitor operations in its Mariana and Itabira units in the state of Minas Gerais. To meet the demand of the mining company, Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital transformation, energy management, and automation, and Aveva, also a global leader in industrial software, have partnered in operations. Vale’s main iron ore producers are the Mariana and Itabira complexes, which account for 75% of the mining company’s production in the state.

Vale declared that this digitalization is crucial not only to improve remote control of its units’ operations but also to enable efficiency and sustainability in mining. The mining company also stated that the goal of this partnership is to unify operations across various locations and upgrade the old system to a new one capable of managing the diverse technologies operating at each facility.
Schneider Electric provided EcoStruxure™ Asset Link, coupled with AVEVA™ System Platform and Schneider Modicon M580, aiming to provide visibility and unify operations for Vale. This technology allows data to be integrated directly into the system, enabling Vale’s managers to gain granular insights without the need for manual and isolated actions.
