The São Paulo Police Military Contest Offers Thousands of Vacancies for Soldiers, with Salaries Above R$ 5 Thousand and Exams Distributed in Dozens of Cities Across the Country. The Selection Process Involves Several Elimination Steps and Mandatory Training Course.
The São Paulo Police Military has opened registrations for 2,200 vacancies for 2nd class soldiers, with a starting basic salary of R$ 5,055.53.
The registration must be done exclusively on the Fundação Vunesp website from September 8 (starting at 10 AM) to October 23, 2025 (11:59 PM), with a fee of R$ 85.
The knowledge exams are scheduled for November 30, 2025 and will take place in 51 cities — 37 municipalities in São Paulo and locations in other federal units — according to the notice published in the Official State Gazette on September 3, 2025.

Who Can Participate: Essential Requirements
Candidates with completed high school, ages between 17 and 30 years, and clear electoral and military obligations (for men) may apply.
It is also required a minimum height of 1.55 m for women and 1.60 m for men.
Another requirement is to possess a National Driver’s License in categories “B” to “E”.
All criteria are verified throughout the stages of the contest, with height checked during the physical test and the driver’s license verified during the document analysis phase.
The notice also states that good social conduct and integrity will be evaluated in a specific investigation.
Where Will the Exams Be and How to Choose the Location
The Objective Test and the Essay Test, held on the same day, will take place in 51 municipalities.
In São Paulo, there will be 37 cities distributed across all state regions, including the capital, coastline, and countryside.
Outside of São Paulo, there will be venues in capitals and major centers, such as Belo Horizonte (MG), Brasília (DF), Campo Grande (MS), Cuiabá (MT), Curitiba (PR), Florianópolis (SC), Fortaleza (CE), Goiânia (GO), Manaus (AM), Porto Alegre (RS), Recife (PE), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Salvador (BA), and Vitória (ES).
The choice of municipality at registration only applies to the knowledge stage.
The other phases may occur in different locations, at the discretion of the PM.
Assessment Stages: From Knowledge to Fitness
The selection process consists of multiple phases.
The first includes the Knowledge Exams, with the Objective Test and Essay Test applied together, lasting five hours.
Once this phase is passed, the candidate proceeds to the Physical Fitness Test, which includes height measurement and standardized tests.
Next, the Health Examinations and Psychological Exams are conducted, as well as the Evaluation of Social Conduct, Reputation, and Integrity.
Finally, there is the Document Analysis, a stage where compliance with all requirements for appointment is confirmed.
Approval in all phases, within the number of vacancies, is a condition for appointment.
Training and Career Start
Responsibilities of the 2nd class soldier include preventive policing and public order preservation, with immediate action against criminal and administrative offenses, always under the principles of community policing and human rights.
The full exercise of functions occurs after completing the Higher Course of Police Technician in Preventive Policing and Public Order Preservation, taught by the Higher School of Soldiers “Colonel PM Eduardo Assumpção”.
The notice details the composition of the starting basic salary of R$ 5,055.53 and establishes the procedures for appointment and start of duty.
Official Follow-Up and Guidance for Candidates
The PM and Vunesp emphasize that they are not responsible for delays or technical failures in access, and it is the candidate’s responsibility to monitor official publications.
If the name is not on the convocation list, it is necessary to contact the examination board’s assistance within the indicated timeframe.
Changes of exam location are not accepted after registration. Nursing candidates are entitled to specific assistance during the exam.
Any particular conditions must be reported to the designated channels for appropriate handling on the exam day.
Operational Reinforcement: Impact on Policing
The contest is part of the São Paulo government’s strategy for reinforcing operational effectiveness.
Since 2023, 14.4 thousand vacancies have been opened to enhance the PM’s preventive and visible policing throughout the state.
Currently, there are 3.5 thousand 2nd class soldiers and 645 student-officers in training.
Additionally, 7.3 thousand military police have already been trained, including 101 health corps lieutenants.
The new selection of 2.2 thousand soldiers meets the planning for the replenishment and expansion of the workforce, with continuous classes formed at the corporation’s training schools.
Registrations, Fee, and Contest Calendar
The notice states that online registration at the Vunesp website should be done after fully reading the contest rules.
The fee payment can be made until the first business day following the end of the registration period.
The confirmation of the exam location will be announced via convocation in the Official State Gazette and, as a secondary source, on the Vunesp website.
According to the document, candidates are advised to monitor daily the publications between November 17 and November 25, during which logistical information for the exam will be released.
