Opportunities Will Be Distributed Throughout The State, With Announcement Expected For The Second Semester Of 2025 And Accessible Requirements

The Minas Gerais Department of Justice and Public Security has confirmed the opening of a new public competition for the Penal Police, offering 1,178 positions distributed throughout the state. The announcement was made on Wednesday, the 16th, and the notice is expected to be published in the second semester of 2025, starting in July.

Objective And Need For The Competition

The main purpose of this competition is to replenish the workforce in the prison units of Minas Gerais. The demand for new professionals has become evident, especially after the recent competition that resulted in the appointment of 3,405 new penal police officers, exceeding the initially planned 2,420 positions. This expansion is essential to meet the growing needs of the prison system, which faces challenges such as overcrowding and the need to ensure the safety of both inmates and employees.

Requirements For Candidates

In the last competition held for the Penal Police of Minas Gerais, candidates needed to meet some basic requirements, including:

· Completed High School

· Minimum Age of 18 Years On The Date Of Appointment

It is important to highlight that there was no maximum age limit, minimum height requirement, or the need to present a National Driver’s License (CNH) for candidates. This flexibility in requirements is a strategy to attract a larger number of competitors, allowing more people the opportunity to enter the public career.

Salary And Working Hours

Those approved in the competition will receive an initial salary of R$4,631.25, with a working schedule of 40 hours per week. This benefit package makes a career in the Penal Police an attractive option for many, especially considering the stability and career advancements that can be achieved over time.

In addition to the salary, employees of the Penal Police are entitled to benefits such as meal assistance, health plans, and special retirement, further increasing the attractiveness of the career.

Simplified Selection Process

In addition to the public competition, the Department of Justice and Public Security also announced the implementation of a simplified selection process (PSS), which will include 686 temporary positions. This measure, according to the government, is exceptional and aims to meet the immediate needs of the prison system until the newly appointed employees take office. The PSS will be a valid alternative to fill temporary gaps, ensuring that safety and order are maintained in the prison units.

Structure Of Tests And Stages Of The Competition

The competition for the Penal Police MG typically includes various stages aimed at assessing not only the theoretical knowledge of candidates but also their physical and psychological capabilities. The competition’s stages may include:

· Objective tests with questions on Portuguese Language, Mathematics, Legal Concepts, and Criminal Legislation.

· Essay, where candidates must demonstrate writing and argumentation skills.

· Psychological assessment, which seeks to ensure that candidates possess the appropriate profile to handle the pressures and challenges of the role.

· Medical exams, which ensure the physical fitness of candidates.

· Physical fitness test, where candidates are evaluated regarding their physical condition for performing the duties.

· Social investigation, which analyzes the candidate’s background to ensure there are no impediments to exercising the public function.

· Technical Professional Training Course (CFTP), which prepares the selected candidates for work in the prison units.

Choice Of Organizing Committee

With the announcement of the competition, the government of Minas Gerais will form an organizing committee to proceed with the preparations for the notice. The choice of the organizing committee is a crucial step, as the institution needs to have experience and credibility to ensure the integrity of the process. The Selecon Institute, which organized the last competition, is a reference in the field and may be considered again for this new selection.
