The Construction of the New Port in Presidente Kennedy, Espírito Santo, Is Scheduled to Begin Next Year
The Brazilian concrete and cement producer, Polimix, is planning to start the construction of the multifunctional port complex of Porto Central, located in the municipality of Presidente Kennedy, Espírito Santo. The new port is expected to begin operations in 2024, said the president of Porto Central, José Maria Vieira de Novaes, to the newspaper Valor Econômico. The Start of Port Construction in Espírito Santo
According to the CEO of Porto Central, José Maria Vieira Novaes, the deadline to complete the construction of the liquid bulk sector, the first phase of Porto Central, is three years. Thus, the operational capacity will be 1.2 million barrels of oil per day. He expects that operations at Porto Central will begin in 2024.
To this end, several stages are being constructed, including the four contracts with refineries, including Petrobras, signed on July 13. These agreements are important investments for the project to proceed, according to Novaes. Additionally, according to the CEO, contracts with other companies, whose names cannot be disclosed, will operate between 250,000 and 300,000 barrels/day.

Imetame Logística Porto has received authorization to install the port terminal in an area in Aracruz, Espírito Santo. Although a start date for the construction has not yet been defined, the company stated that the construction is expected to create around 650 direct job openings, primarily for workers from Aracruz and the surrounding region, in addition to 300 indirect jobs.
At the port terminal, investments of R$ 1 billion are estimated for the completion of the construction. According to the company, the works will take place in two phases, with a projected completion date for the first phase, which includes container and general cargo handling, in three years.
The Imetame port in Espírito Santo will utilize an area of 1,032,639.20 m², located on Rodovia Tancredo Neves (ES-010), in Barra do Riacho. The company will pay the Federal Government an annual amount of R$ 4,127,665.41, divided into 12 monthly installments, with adjustments every 12 months based on the National Consumer Price Index (IPCA).
