The Government Of Minas Started The Construction Of A Bridge Over The Paraopeba River, In The Municipality Of Papagaios, In The Central Region Of The State. The Bridge Is Part Of The Actions Of The Judicial Agreement For The Reparation Of Brumadinho And Will Have An Investment Of R$ 20.1 Million.
Construction Of The Bridge Over The Paraopeba River Begins In Papagaios
The Bridge Construction Will Be 200 Meters Long And 10.5 Meters Wide. The Execution Will Be Carried Out By The Department Of Highways Of Minas Gerais (DER-MG), Responsible For Issuing The Start Order On February 23.
The Expected Timeline For The Execution Of The Bridge Is One Year, With An Estimated Completion In February 2027. The Structure Is Part Of A Set Of Interventions Road Works Planned To Improve Mobility In The Paraopeba Basin.

Bridge Integrates The Package Of Works From The Judicial Agreement Of Brumadinho
The New Bridge Is The Sixth Of Eight Regional Road Works Defined Through Popular Consultation With Affected Residents. The Interventions Are Part Of The Measures Provided For In The Judicial Agreement For Reparation Signed After The Collapse Of The Dam In Brumadinho.
According To The Vice-Governor Of Minas Gerais, Mateus Simões, The Construction Of The Bridge Addresses A Historical Demand From The Local Population. He Stated That The Work Represents An Advance In Regional Mobility And Reinforces The Commitment To Concrete Deliveries For The Affected Communities.
New Bridge Should Improve Connection Between Three Municipalities
The Bridge Will Facilitate Movement Between The Municipalities Of Papagaios, Caetanópolis, And Paraopeba. The Need For The Structure Became Even More Evident After The Collapse Of The Previous Bridge, Which Occurred In January 2018.
According To The Secretary Of State For Planning And Management, Silvia Listgarten, The Work Should Also Reduce Distances And Enhance Road Safety. The Expectation Is That The New Connection Will Contribute To The Link Between Municipalities In The Paraopeba Basin.
Other Road Works Provided For In The Reparation Agreement
Among The Road Interventions Already Completed Under The Agreement Are Improvements And Pavement On Two Sections Of MG-060. The Works Connect Esmeraldas To São José Da Varginha, Covering 32 Kilometers, And Papagaios To Pompéu, Covering 45 Kilometers.
Other Works Are Ongoing, Such As The Paving Of MG-415 To BR-040, In Morada Nova De Minas, And The Paving Of The Section From Abaeté To Porto São Vicente, On LMG-762. Paving Is Also Taking Place Between BR-040 And The District Of São José Do Buriti, In Felixlândia.
In Addition To These Interventions, Two Works Remain In The Preparatory Phase. Among Them Are The Duplication Of The Road That Links Brumadinho To BR-381, In Betim, And The Implementation Of A Third Lane On The Stretch Between Papagaios And Pará De Minas.
In The Case Of The Duplication Between Brumadinho And Betim, The Financial Arrangement Involves Resources From The Judicial Agreement Directed To The Municipality Of Brumadinho. The Financing Also Uses Resources Initially Intended For The State To Supplement The Investments Provided For In The Reparation Process.
