Minas Government Announces R$ 3.3 Billion in Roadworks for 2025, Including Bridge Over the São Francisco River and Recovery of 5,000 km of Roads.
The government of Minas Gerais announced a historic investment package for roadworks in 2025, totaling R$ 3.3 billion. The plan, led by the Department of Highways (DER-MG), includes the construction of a large bridge over the São Francisco River, connecting Manga to Matias Cardoso, estimated at R$ 250 million.
Unprecedented Investment in Infrastructure
This volume of resources more than doubles the amount allocated the previous year, when the state had earmarked R$ 1.5 billion for the sector.
Of the total planned for 2025, R$ 2.2 billion are already in the contracting or bidding phase, and another R$ 1.1 billion have been specifically allocated for asphalt purchases, a key item for the recovery and paving of roads.

Highlights Projects in the State
Among the roadworks planned for 2025 in Minas Gerais, some stand out for their regional impact and the volume of resources.
One of the most anticipated projects is the construction of the bridge over the São Francisco River, which will be 1,160 meters long and 13.8 meters wide, connecting the municipalities of Manga and Matias Cardoso.
Another important point is the paving of 15.2 kilometers of the MG-170, in the stretch between Pimenta and Guapé, which will receive an investment of R$ 68 million.
In the Triângulo Mineiro region, the Southern Ring Road of Uberlândia promises to improve traffic flow by connecting the MGC-455 to the LMG-503.
Also planned is the implementation of 17.8 kilometers on the LMG-626, creating a direct link between Curral de Dentro and Mirandópolis, in addition to the recovery of 44 kilometers of the MG-010, between Conceição do Mato Dentro and Serro.
These interventions not only enhance urban mobility but also strengthen regional integration, ensuring greater efficiency in freight transport and increased safety for road users.
Large-Scale Conservation
In addition to the new works, the state will allocate R$ 415 million for the conservation of 5,000 km of highways.
These contracts will be distributed across nine regional coordinators of DER-MG, operating in strategic hubs such as Juiz de Fora, Passos, Paracatu, and Ituiutaba.
The measure seeks to ensure not only new roads but also the efficient maintenance of the existing road network.
Economic and Social Impacts
According to the General Director of DER-MG, Matheus Novais, investments in roadworks have a direct effect on the state’s development.
“We are transforming Minas into a major construction site, making the state more attractive for investment and living,” he stated.
The agency also highlighted the savings of R$ 328 million generated in bidding processes until August 2025, reinforcing the commitment to efficient management of public resources.
Future Projections
The Minas government has indicated that investments in road infrastructure should not only be concentrated in 2025.
The plan is to maintain the pace of construction in the coming years, prioritizing regions that still face logistical bottlenecks.
The expectation is that modernizing the road network will reduce transport costs, strengthen agribusiness, and increase the state’s competitiveness compared to the rest of the country.
With billion-dollar investments and a focus on strategic roadworks, Minas Gerais is taking an important step toward modernizing its infrastructure.
These measures are expected to improve traffic safety, stimulate regional tourism, and boost the economy, reinforcing the state’s role as one of Brazil’s key logistics hubs.
