The Federal Government is now seeking to turn its attention to energy transition and, through the MCTI, launched a public call for sustainable fuel projects, with a total investment of R$ 50 million for financing initiatives.
During last Wednesday (06/15), the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI), through the FINEP company, launched a public call for financing projects focused on sustainable fuels. Thus, the Federal Government intends to use a total investment of R$ 50 million from the National Scientific and Technological Development Fund (FNDCT) to finance initiatives that can contribute to the future of the segment in the Brazilian market.
Projects Focused on Solutions and Innovation in the Field of Sustainable Fuels Will Be Financed by the MCTI Through the Investment of R$ 50 Million Announced.
The energy transition continues to be the main focus of the Brazilian market today, as the global environmental agenda increasingly requires a focus on sustainability and commitment to the environment.
Thus, the Federal Government, through the MCTI, announced its new initiative for the segment and launched a public call to seek projects focused on solutions in the field of sustainable fuels, which will be financed with resources from the FNDCT.

With 160,000 m² of collectors, an area larger than 20 football fields, Silkeborg, in Denmark, hosts a solar thermal plant that heats 19,500 homes and could become the largest solar heating plant in the world.
The total investment announced by the MCTI during the launch of the public call was R$ 50 million, which will be applied to various projects mainly aimed at solutions for sustainable fuels in the intermodal transport sector.
Thus, after the analysis by the MCT and the FINEP company regarding the public contribution that will be achieved with the financing of the projects, each initiative may receive an investment ranging between R$ 1 million and R$ 7.5 million for project development. This is the latest strategy of the national government to make the production chain of sustainable fuels even more efficient and attractive.
Therefore, the MCTI minister, Paulo Alvim, during the launch of the call, commented on the importance of the million-dollar investment in sustainable fuel projects for the national market: “We are making another delivery as requested by President Jair Bolsonaro. We are here in an alliance in the government between the MCTI, the Ministry of the Environment, and the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Actions like this contribute to making our country increasingly sustainable, inclusive, and with national solutions.”
Public Call Notice Will Be Open for Companies of All Sizes to Receive the Planned Investment for Projects.
The public call launched by the MCTI for the development of sustainable fuel projects in Brazil aims to ensure more accessibility to any company that can contribute to the current scenario.
Thus, the initiatives of Brazilian companies of any size, individually or in partnership with other national companies, as well as Scientific and Technological Institutions (ICTs), will be analyzed, which may only participate as service providers for the proposing and co-executing companies.
In addition, the MCTI announced that the public call will focus on three distinct lines for sustainable fuel projects, namely: the production of sustainable fuels for compression ignition engines, which will receive an investment of R$ 15 million, the development of technologies focused on the production of aviation fuels (SAF) for immediate application, which will have an investment of R$ 20 million, and national technologies for the production, storage, and use of sustainable hydrogen in the transport sector, which will receive the remaining R$ 15 million in investments.
Thus, the Federal Government advances in the search for technological innovation in the national market, aiming to highlight the companies that can contribute to making the sustainable fuel market in Brazil even more efficient.
