After a total investment of BRL 3,3 million in the project to change the power grid, the Port of Imbituba has finalized the works and now has a much more adequate infrastructure for on-site cargo handling and storage operations.

Over the past week, the last stages of the infrastructure works at the Port of Imbituba for the replacement of the power grid have been finalized and this past Wednesday, (20/04), the local administration commented on the investment of BRL 3,3 million that was made in the project, stating that this was another step taken towards internal improvements with a focus on increasing the quality of the place.

A total of BRL 3,3 million in investment was invested in infrastructure works to replace the power grid at the Port of Imbituba over the last few months

Located in the southern region of the state of Santa Catarina, the Port of Imbituba is highly important for the movement and storage of cargo in the state and is now investing in infrastructure improvements for these operations. Thus, the local administration made an investment of R$ 3,3 million to replace the entire energy network in the complex, after more than 20 years without maintenance carried out in the port system.

Now, with the completion of the site's infrastructure works, the new network includes approximately 7 km of high voltage lines, with 25 km of underground cabling, in addition to 170 fiberglass poles, lighter and more resistant. In addition, the entire energy system is prepared to be able to sustain high winds, sea air and other very common problems within cargo handling operations on site, as a way to ensure more efficiency in these activities.

The new energy network at the Port of Imbituba also has 225 LED lamps, which are more economical, durable, with automatic lighting and control of light intensity, as a way to ensure more savings with expenses related to electricity and a more conscious consumption. of the resource within the port. The replacement of the power grid was due to signs of wear and tear due to use, corrosion due to the proximity to the maritime area, in addition to technological outdatedness, which is now no longer seen at the site, since state-of-the-art equipment was used in the grid.

Switching the power grid at the port is just the first step towards the infrastructure works plan that will be carried out throughout 2022

The Port of Imbituba has been on a wave of investment in infrastructure works and improvements for cargo handling operations and, since 2018, it has been focusing on the initiative. Thus, the CEO of SCPAR Porto de Imbituba, Fábio Riera, commented on the infrastructure works completed this month at the site and stated that “This investment was vital to provide the users of the Port of Imbituba with reliability and continuity in the supply of energy, with adequate structure and technology updated to the best standards of sustainability and energy efficiency”.

Now, in addition to the reformulation of the entire energy system with the site works, the port administration is keeping an eye on renewable sources for a healthier supply and, during the next week, will launch the tender for a solar energy system, the to be installed on approximately 830 m² of roof areas at the Porto facilities, a structure that will contribute to 15% of current electricity consumption.

In this way, the Port of Imbituba continues with its efforts towards a better port infrastructure and advances to become even more efficient within its operations, with a focus on expanding the national port sector.
