The Port of Santos Was Leader in Corn Exports in July. Also, the Port Stands Out in the International Transfer of Other Products Such as Diesel Oil and Gas Oil
According to a note from the Santos Port Authority, corn was the product with the highest export in July by the Port of Santos and also had an exponential increase in shipments of other products from January to July. There were about 2.352 million tons exported by the Port of Santos, including diesel oil, abroad last month, a volume 104.1% higher than the 1.152 million tons exported in July 2021. In about seven months, 4.137 million tons of corn were exported through the Port of Santos, 132.3% more than the 1.780 million tons exported from January to July 2021.
Also, in July, other products stood out in the volume of exports to the foreign market, such as sugar, with 2.1 million tons (+9.2%); cellulose, with 688 thousand tons (+57.5%); and diesel oil and gas oil, with 163.9 thousand tons (+21.9%). Meanwhile, a decrease in soybean volumes exported through the Port of Santos was observed. Bulk soybeans amounted to 1.259 million tons last month, a decrease of 10.9% compared to July 2021. Containerized soybean exports were 879 tons, 66.5% less than in the same month in 2021.
Export of Inputs Such as Meat Also Stood Out at the Port of Santos
In addition to the export of grains and oils, meat exports in July also saw an increase of 13.5% at the Port of Santos, totaling 200.009 thousand tons. The transfer of poultry meat increased by 71% in July, reaching 64.260 thousand tons, while the export of beef declined by 3.2% in the same comparison base, to 132.640 thousand tons. The export of coffee beans was also lower in July than in the corresponding month in 2021, by 24%, totaling 131.755 thousand tons. Additionally, there was a decline in the export of citrus juices in July, totaling 197.361 thousand tons, 9.8% less than in July last year.

As for imports, there were considerable increases in July for wheat exports, with 117.1 thousand tons (+42.2%) and salt, with 95.1 thousand tons (+184.9%), according to the statement from the Santos Port Authority.
Increase in the Export of Agricultural Products Through the Port of Santos
In addition to corn and oils, agricultural product exports also grew during the period from January to July 2022. Soybean complex exports totaled 28.4 million tons (+10.3% compared to the 2021 period). Meat transfer reached 1.3 million tons (+36.1%). The Santos Port Authority also reported that diesel oil and gas oil exports reached 1.3 million tons (+23.7%), and cellulose reached 4.6 million tons (+59.9%).
Within the soybean complex, exports of soybeans increased by 7.1% in the seven-month period, reaching 22.998 million tons. For bulk meal, the increase was 28.2%, with 5.348 million tons. Among meats, the largest increase was in the volume of beef exported, at 37.1%, with 947.341 thousand tons. Poultry meat shipments in the same period totaled 397.688 thousand tons, 34.7% higher than in the same period of 2021. Citrus juice exports grew by 2.7%, reaching 1.425 million tons.
