What is expected is that, by 2030, the Búzios field will produce 2 million barrels of oil per day
Last week, Petrobras approved the hiring of three new FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) production units to be used in the Búzios field, in the pre-salt, in the Saints.

The three new oil platforms will be the first to be contracted after the acquisition of excess volumes from the onerous assignment of the Búzios field, in November 2019, in partnership with the Chinese companies CNOOC Petroleum Brasil Ltda. and CNODC Brasil Petróleo e Gás Ltda.
Such contracts cost Petrobras the amount of R$ 61,4 billion. The company is betting on the sale of assets that bring lower financial returns and that are not part of the company's core business, thus making more resources available for promising projects, as is the case of the Búzios field.
Currently, Petrobras has four units operating in Búzios, which are responsible for more than 20% of the company's total production and more than 30% of the pre-salt production. Production records were achieved through these platforms.
Búzios, the largest oil field in deep waters in the world, produces and has oil of excellent quality, substantial reserves, low risk and low cost of extraction. It is located 180 kilometers (km) from the Brazilian coast and more than 5 meters deep. It has an area of 850 km², with reservoir thicknesses of up to 480 meters and excellent quality of the reservoir rock. More than 45 wells drilled to date confirm the excellent quality of the reservoir.
