After Price Increases on Fuels Made by Petrobras, Diesel Price Rises to R$ 10.14 in Fernando de Noronha and Value Approaches Gasoline
After Petrobras increased the price of diesel oil on May 10, the new increase applied by the oil company impacted the price of a liter of diesel in Fernando de Noronha by 4.64%, rising from R$ 9.69 to R$ 10.14 last Thursday (19). With the new adjustment, the diesel price approaches gasoline, which has not increased and whose liter still costs R$ 10.68.
Although Petrobras raised the price of diesel at refineries on May 10, only now has the impact reached the island. According to the director of the only station on the island, Rafael Coelho, the reduced price difference between diesel and gasoline is a reflection of Petrobras’s pricing policy.
According to Coelho, Petrobras made a 8.87% adjustment in the price of diesel, but only passed on part of the increase. He stated that the small difference between gasoline and diesel prices does not occur only in Noronha.

Owners of vehicles and vessels that use diesel said that the difference between the prices of fuel and gasoline has never been so small.
“I have lived on the island for over 30 years and have never seen such a small difference in gasoline and diesel prices, and I can’t understand why. This impacts because diesel oil is one of the main inputs for tourism activities,” said businessman Rodolfo Aureliano de Melo in an interview with G1.
The visitor guide Franklin Santana takes tourists on excursions in a diesel vehicle. “My car runs on diesel for better fuel economy, but it doesn’t help. This is absurd,” declared Franklin.
The majority of vessels in Fernando de Noronha are powered by diesel. There are fishing boats and tourist boats. “The price is very high for those who work with boats. Tourists also complain about the increases. We adapt to ensure profitability,” said sailor Sérgio Amarante.
Some tourism boat owners say they will have to pass on the price increase. “We will have to raise the prices of tours to compensate for the expense. It’s hard to work like this. Unfortunately, it will be expensive for everyone,” indicated sailor Bruno Rocha.
“Now everything will have to increase. I need to raise the price of tours, and tourists complain; we have no other option,” said sailor Ian Campos.
After Consecutive Increases by Petrobras, Ethanol Price Reaches R$ 7.00 at Pumps and Consumers Have Nowhere to Turn!
Data from the latest survey by the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL), referring to the first days of May, shows that the liter of gasoline sold at service stations in the country increased by 0.70% in price and closed the period at R$ 7.55. Ethanol continues to register more significant increases, closing the first days of the month at R$ 6.15, a price 3.69% higher compared to the previous month’s closing.
“If we compare the current price with the closing of 2021, we are already paying 9.5% more for gasoline in 2022 and 6.5% more for a liter of ethanol,” highlights Douglas Pina, General Director of Mainstream in the Fleet and Mobility Division of Edenred Brazil. Click here to read the full article.
