For Those Traveling in Mato Grosso, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, or Goiás, Refueling with Ethanol Represents Savings Compared to the Price of Gasoline
The month of September was marked by a 13.93% drop in the price of ethanol at the mills, compared to the previous month. The national average price of the renewable fuel was R$ 3.462 per liter. The information is from ValeCard, a company specialized in fleet management solutions.
With this decrease, refueling with ethanol became advantageous in four states, as it happens when its price is lower than 70% of the price of gasoline per liter (the calculation does not consider factors such as individual vehicle autonomy).
Thus, those refueling in Mato Grosso (R$ 3.278), São Paulo (R$ 3.337), Minas Gerais (R$ 3.549), or Goiás (R$ 3.433) can choose ethanol to make their money go further.

Gasoline Falls 8.35% at the Pump in September, With an Average Price of R$ 5.193, the Lowest Since February 2021
An exclusive survey conducted by ValeCard, a company specialized in fleet management solutions, confirms that fuel prices at gas stations continue to fall. In the analysis for the month of September, the price of gasoline showed a decrease of 8.35% compared to August, with an average price of R$ 5.193 per liter at the pump.
Porto Alegre (R$ 4.769) had the cheapest gasoline among the capitals, while Boa Vista topped the list of the most expensive (R$ 6.208).
The drop in gasoline prices reflects the limitation of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) adopted by the states after the sanction, in June, of the law that created a ceiling for the tax on items such as diesel, gasoline, electricity, communications, and public transportation — now also considered essential consumer items.
“In addition to the tax issue, another factor that has led to the decline in gasoline prices is Petrobras’s successive cuts in the prices of this fuel at refineries,” explains José Ortigosa, CEO of Benefits and Fleet at ValeCard.
On September 1, Petrobras announced an average reduction of 7% in the price of gasoline sold to distributors, which was the fourth cut made since mid-July.
The investigation indicated the largest reduction in the price of fuel in Rio Grande do Norte (-11%), closing the month at R$ 5.094 (a price lower than the national average), Amapá (-11.68%), and Pernambuco (-10.65%). No state reported price increases, but the smallest declines were recorded in Acre (-4.45%), Bahia (-5.41%), and Roraima (-6.25%).
The data obtained for the survey refers to the period between September 1 and 27, through the record of transactions made with the ValeCard fuel card at more than 25,000 accredited establishments.
Porto Alegre, Campo Grande, and Cuiabá Have the Lowest Prices Among the Capitals

Porto Alegre (R$ 4.769), Campo Grande (R$ 4.803), and Cuiabá (R$ 4.887) were the capitals with the lowest prices in the first half of September, marking the second consecutive month that Cuiabá appears in this ranking.
The highest average prices were found in Boa Vista (R$ 6.208), Belém (R$ 5.522), and Porto Velho (R$ 5.540).
