The IFMT Course: What You Need to Know

The course on Teaching and Management Training for Education on Ethnic-Racial Relations and Quilombola Culture will take place in the first semester of 2025, starting in March and concluding in June.

The total workload is 120 hours and the format is entirely distance learning, with activities conducted in the Virtual Learning Environment (AVA).

Offered in partnership with the Open University of Brazil (UAB) and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the course aims to serve teachers, technicians, and managers from public education networks throughout Brazil. A total of 3,750 slots will be available, completely free of charge.

Subjects and Objectives

The program is designed to meet the needs of Basic Education educators, addressing essential themes for promoting racial equity and valuing Quilombola culture.

The 120 hours of training are divided into four main subjects:

  • Brazilian Ethnic-Racial and Quilombola Landscape (30 hours);
  • Cultures and Territorialities (30 hours);
  • Anti-Racist Education in Practice (30 hours);
  • Democratic Management for Diversity (30 hours).

Additionally, the course requires the development of a final product as part of the assessment activities. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.

Target Audience

The initiative is aimed at teachers, technicians, and managers in Basic Education who work in federal, state, or municipal public networks.

The course is designed to meet the needs of those who wish to expand their knowledge on ethnic-racial relations and apply these concepts to their teaching practices.

Opening Event

Those who register by December 2, 2024 will be able to participate in a special opening event, which will take place on December 5, 2024. This meeting will present the course objectives and the guidelines of the National Policy on Equity, Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations, and Quilombola School Education (PNEERQ).

For those who register after this date, the event will be available in recorded format, serving as the first mandatory activity of the course.

Why is This Training Essential?

Brazil is marked by its cultural and historical diversity, but the school environment still faces challenges to ensure the inclusion of all students.

Empowering educators to operate with an anti-racist and democratic approach is essential to promote equality and justice in the educational environment.

This course offers practical and theoretical tools that can transform how Basic Education professionals deal with diversity, contributing to a more inclusive and respectful environment.

Schedule and Selection

Registrations for the course are now open and will continue until December 15, 2024. The selection will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, respecting the limit of 3,750 spots.
