The drought of the cerrado was considered an enemy of wheat, but Brazilian scientists turned the lack of rain into a competitive advantage by creating a grain with quality that is already attracting the attention of international mills around the world.

THE OWNER of Brazil: a farmer who came from laundries, created an ’empire’ and today runs a company valued at R$ 42 billion after tripling its value in less than a year and receiving a billion-dollar investment from the USA.
The donations, comprising fresh fruits, vegetables, and legumes, reinforce the federal government’s commitment to promoting access to quality food while simultaneously stimulating the local economy.
In total, 500 baskets weighing about 25 kg each were distributed, totaling 12.5 tons of products grown by small rural producers from the region.
Family Farming as the Engine of a Sustainable Economy
The Executive Director of Operations and Supply at Conab, Arnoldo de Campos, highlighted during the event that the Food Acquisition Program 2025 represents an essential public policy for uniting production and solidarity.
According to him, the program’s strategy is to ensure income to family farmers while providing healthy food to those in greatest need.
This initiative has become a national reference in social and economic sustainability, contributing to Brazil’s progress in eradicating hunger.
The regional superintendent of Conab in Pernambuco, Elizaldo Sá, also emphasized the importance of engaging the 11 participating associations and cooperatives, which represent seven municipalities in Pernambuco: Tupanatinga, Lagoa Grande, Petrolina, Triunfo, Orocó, Caruaru, and Itacuruba.
The contracts established with Conab will allow for the direct marketing of local agricultural production, strengthening community ties and reducing food waste.
Food Acquisition Program 2025: Regional Development and Food Security in the Sertão do Araripe
In this first phase of the Food Acquisition Program 2025, the resources will benefit around 370 small farmers, whose products will be allocated to nine entities in the social assistance network.
It is estimated that approximately 35,000 people, spread across nine cities: Santa Maria da Boa Vista, Lagoa Grande, Petrolina, Parnamirim, Cabrobó, Belém de São Francisco, Tacaratu, Cabo de Santo Agostinho, and Carnaubeira da Penha, will receive regionally produced food.
The program’s actions encompass settled farmers from agrarian reform, quilombola communities, and indigenous peoples, expanding the outreach of public policy.
This diversity of beneficiaries demonstrates the social impact of the project and its relevance for strengthening inclusive and sustainable agriculture.
The Simultaneous Purchase with Donation model adopted by Conab ensures that the purchased food is immediately passed on to social assistance institutions, optimizing the allocation of public resources.
Training and Technical Management to Enhance Social Results
During this week, Conab teams will conduct technical meetings in Parnamirim with the organizations involved in executing the new projects of the Food Acquisition Program 2025.
The aim is to align operational and administrative procedures, ensuring efficiency in the application of resources and transparency in the acquisition process.
Visits are also planned to the municipalities of Orocó, Cabrobó, Carnaubeira da Penha, Mirandiba, and Custódia, focusing on guidance and monitoring actions with the supplying cooperatives and associations.
These activities aim to reinforce participatory management and the autonomy of producers, key elements for the success of public policy.
By integrating technical training and institutional support, Conab strengthens local governance and stimulates the professionalization of family farming in the Northeast.
The synergy between government, producers, and civil society ensures that the program’s results go beyond the numbers, consolidating a model of sustainable rural development.
In summary, the Food Acquisition Program 2025 reaffirms the federal government’s commitment to combating hunger and strengthening regional production, connecting small farmers and vulnerable communities in a chain of solidarity that drives the economy and promotes social inclusion in Pernambuco.
