Potássio do Brasil Comments on Its Potash Mining Project and the Construction of a Processing Plant in the State of Amazonas, Highlighting a Focus on Sustainability and Job Creation in the Region.

During last Tuesday, (06/21), the president of Potássio do Brasil, Adriano Espeschit, spoke about the company’s mining project in Amazonas, specifically in the Autazes region, and highlighted the projections for the venture. Thus, more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs are forecast to be generated throughout the construction phase and completion of the plant, which will have a primary focus on sustainability during production.

Potássio do Brasil Highlights That the Mining Project in the State of Amazonas Will Generate Over 2,000 Direct and Indirect Jobs for Residents

Potássio do Brasil commented on its mining project in the state of Amazonas during the Permanent Forum for Sustainable Development of Amazonas, held by the State Secretary of Economic Development, Science, and Technology (Sedecti). Thus, the president of the company made some statements about the company’s projections for the venture, which will include the construction of a potassium chloride production plant.

Therefore, the mining project is expected to generate a total of 2,600 jobs, both direct and indirect, by the completion of the plant’s construction. Adriano Espeschit stated that “According to Fiesp, for each direct job, 12 to 13 indirect jobs are generated, which we can add up to an average of 17,000 indirect jobs created during the operational phase. The transportation of the produced fertilizer, Potassium Chloride, will be done by barges, and the natural consumer market is Mato Grosso, which alone consumes over 4.5 million tons of this fertilizer per year.”

The president of Potássio do Brasil also emphasized that, in addition to the importance of the mining project for job creation in the region, the company aims to energize the potassium chloride commercialization segment in Brazil.

This is because the country is currently 95% dependent on imports of Potassium Chloride, and the construction of the new production plant could create a more resilient internal commercialization network. Thus, the company’s project will not only contribute to the socioeconomic development of the state through job creation, but will also aim to bring new perspectives to this resource.

The Mining Project of Potássio do Brasil Aims to Combine Sustainability with Production to Ensure Environmental Commitment to the Venture

Potássio do Brasil intends not only to ensure thousands of job opportunities with the mining project, but also to integrate sustainability into the potassium chloride production chain. This is because the mine of the Potássio Autazes Project will not cause any deforestation, as it will be implemented in an already deforested area. Thus, no forested region will suffer from new destructions for the company to explore the resource in the region.

Furthermore, the mining project of Potássio do Brasil seeks to promote sustainability and has over 30 socioeconomic and environmental projects in implementation and development, based on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As a result, by the end of the installation of the potassium utilization plant in the state of Amazonas, the region will benefit from the ongoing sustainability projects.

Finally, the president of the company highlighted one of the sustainability initiatives, the seedling nursery established in the Village of Urucurituba, which already has over 20,000 seedlings donated by Potássio do Brasil, and stated that the company intends to continue along this path throughout the completion of the mining project in the northern state of the country.
