The journey began in 2017 with the creation of the diversity committee and the establishment of goals for female representation. In 2020, Diageo began to consider intersectionality, initially focusing on race, with affirmative actions aimed at Black and Indigenous individuals. The new goals were announced alongside other social and environmental impact targets in the ‘Society 2030: Spirit of Progress’ strategy, designed to create a positive impact in the world by 2030, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The ambition is to achieve 45% representation of Black and Indigenous leaders by 2030, as well as 50% of all leadership positions occupied by women.

Among the actions already implemented, in addition to the Origens Program, is MOVER, launched in June 2021 by 45 major companies in the country, of which Diageo is one of the founders. The movement aims to generate 10,000 new leadership positions for Black individuals and opportunities for 3 million people in the coming years.

In the area of gender equity and female empowerment, the initiatives promoted by the company have been publicly recognized. This year, Diageo won the WEPs (Women’s Empowerment Principles) award from UN Women in the silver category and was highlighted in the Exame Diversity Guide for the development of the family leave policy, which extended to all teams in the company a parental leave of 26 weeks, or six months, with salary and benefits maintained. The policy applies to all types of couples and is also valid for adoptions.

Following the concept of the first edition, held in 2020, the program focuses on hiring Black and Indigenous individuals over the age of 18, graduated or currently studying at any higher education institution in bachelor’s, teaching, or technology courses. Knowledge of English is not required.

Those approved will enter a development plan upon assuming their positions, which includes mentorship, language courses paid for by the company, as well as other development actions. The goal is to promote professional advancement and increase racial representation within the company, including in leadership positions.

“At Diageo, we believe that diversity and inclusion drive business performance. We not only want to increase representation but also provide tools and conditions for our people to grow and be part of the leadership group, creating an environment where everyone thrives through the implementation of innovative policies and practices in the market,” says Marina Gleason, Talent Manager at Diageo.

Application: Interested individuals wishing to apply for the job openings above and build a career at the global leader in the premium alcoholic beverages segment, owner of the brands Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Ypióca, must submit their resume by September 10 on the 99 Jobs website.
