Prots Invests R$ 3 Million In New EPI Factory In Belo Horizonte And Expands Presence In The EPI Industry Targeted At The Electricity Sector.

The opening of a new EPI factory in Belo Horizonte marks a new step in Prots’ expansion in Brazil.

The company, specialized in electrical EPIs, announced a Prots investment of R$ 3 million in the industrial unit that will be installed in the Bonfim neighborhood, in the Northwest region of the state capital.

The forecast is that production will begin in May and the official opening will take place in June 2026.

The project is part of the company’s growth strategy within the EPI industry, which is experiencing a moment of expansion driven by new safety requirements at work and investments in electrical infrastructure.

In addition, the company is betting on the strategic location of Minas Gerais to optimize logistics and expand the distribution of its products.

With the new unit, the company aims to increase production capacity and meet the growing demand of the EPI market, especially for equipment aimed at protection against electrical risks.

Prots Investment Bets On Logistics And Tax Incentives

The choice of Belo Horizonte to host the new EPI factory was not by chance.

According to the company, the state capital brings important logistical advantages, in addition to offering tax incentives that favor the establishment of new industries.

The company’s partner-director, Diogo Santiago, explains that the decision was already part of the company’s strategic planning.

“Minas Gerais has a good tax regime for us — the state grants tax benefits. In terms of geographical location, it is well positioned in Brazil, between the South and the Northeast.

Thus, the good routes for logistics to distribute production and the tax benefits can be considered the main reasons that led us to open a unit in Belo Horizonte,” he explained.

In this way, the Prots investment aims not only to expand production but also to reduce logistical costs and accelerate service to customers in different regions of the country.

EPI Factory Will Have Automated Production

The new industrial unit will follow the same technological model already utilized by the company in Araquari, Santa Catarina.

In the plant in Santa Catarina, the company invested in automation and robotics to optimize the production of electrical EPIs, such as gloves and insulating sleeves.

This standard will also be replicated in the state capital.

As a result, the factory will utilize automated machines capable of producing on a larger scale and with greater efficiency.

Currently, the unit in Santa Catarina has the capacity to manufacture around 15,000 pairs of insulating gloves per month.

The expectation is that the new EPI factory in Belo Horizonte will reach similar production levels.

In this industrial model, the workforce tends to be more qualified, with professionals responsible mainly for operating, monitoring, and programming the equipment.

Initial Production Will Focus On Insulating Mats

Although the new unit has the potential to expand the company’s portfolio, the first product to be manufactured will be the insulating mat, used in environments with electrical risks.

The forecast is that the plant will produce about 1,840 units of this equipment per month.

This type of product is widely used in substations, industrial installations, and electrical maintenance operations.

Additionally, the company’s goal is to expand its presence in the EPI market, offering complementary electrical insulation solutions for companies in the energy, construction, and electrical network maintenance sectors.

International Strategy And Growth Of The EPI Industry

The company’s expansion plan is not limited to Brazil.

Alongside the launch of the new EPI factory, the company also intends to open a unit in the United States by the end of this semester.

According to the company’s partner-director, the goal is to transform the brand into a multinational.

“Our intention is to make Prots a multinational company, as our product is in demand worldwide, which allows us to plan all these expansions with focus and careful planning,” states Diogo Santiago.

This strategy accompanies the global growth of the EPI industry, which has seen increasing demand, particularly in industrial and energy sectors.

Qualified Professionals Are A Priority At The New Factory

Even with automated processes, the new unit will require qualified professionals to operate and program the industrial equipment.

For this reason, the company states that it seeks to attract talent by offering competitive working conditions, including attractive compensation and opportunities for professional growth.

“We have an attractive policy at the company. We offer interesting compensation, benefits, and the employee has a real opportunity for growth.

We value a good work environment, adequate tools, and a complete structure so that the professional feels comfortable,” comments Prots’ partner-director, Diogo Santiago.

This hiring profile aligns with the trend of modernizing the EPI industry, which increasingly demands technical knowledge.

EPI Market Is Expected To Continue Growing In Brazil

The landscape of the EPI market in Brazil indicates good prospects for the coming years.

According to the 2023-2024 report from the Brazilian Association of Distributors and Importers of Safety and Protection Equipment and Products (Abraseg), the sector can grow between 4% and 6% per year until 2026.

In 2024, the national market for personal protective equipment surpassed R$ 21 billion, with an approximate increase of 9% compared to the previous year.

Within this segment, gloves represent between 18% and 20% of total revenue.

Meanwhile, electrical EPIs, used in activities with the risk of electric shock, are expected to grow even more.

Thus, projections indicate an annual expansion between 4% and 8% in this niche, driven by increased enforcement of NR-10, the regulation that governs safety in electrical installations.

In addition, investments in energy distribution networks and renewable energy projects are expected to further strengthen the sector.

Currently, Brazil produces around 700,000 to 800,000 pairs of insulating gloves per year, representing an estimated market between R$ 180 million and R$ 220 million.
