The Federal Institute of Pernambuco (IFPE) has just opened enrollment for a free Initial and Continuing English course, focusing on the intermediate level, offered by the Recife Campus. Who Can Enroll in the Federal Institute’s Free English Courses?
The announcement offers 80 slots for the free Intermediate English course for two classes. The training aims, in general, to equip students to develop intermediate-level communication skills in English, covering aspects of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
To facilitate the completion of the activities, the free English courses will be semi-presential, that is, of the 90 hours planned for the training, part will occur in face-to-face activities and another part in EAD mode. The activities will take place on Wednesdays.

Eligible to participate in the free Intermediate English FIC course from the Federal Institute are students, servers, and outsourced employees of IFPE Recife Campus and candidates from the external community. Additionally, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Have a pre-intermediate level of English, that is, level B1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference;
- Have completed at least elementary education.
Proof of the level of fluency in English can be demonstrated through a certificate issued by an authorized institution or through an assessment applied by the Federal Institute.
Enrollment in the Free English Course at IFPE
Enrollment for the Federal Institute’s free English courses is open exclusively online, from September 19 to 21, 2024, or until all slots are filled. Interested individuals must access the specific links for each class and fill out the enrollment form:
The classification of candidates for the free English course at IFPE will consider the order of enrollment and proof of the level of fluency in English. Candidates may present a proficiency certificate or choose to take a proficiency exam offered by IFPE.
Students who complete the free English course will receive a certificate issued by the Coordination of Academic Control Management at IFPE. Classes are scheduled to start on November 13, 2024, and the results of the selection process will be announced according to the timetable set forth in the announcement.
It is worth mentioning that globalization has allowed all areas of work to expand through communication with the market in other continents. Thus, for many job interviews, employers only select candidates whose resumes are enhanced by one or more languages. Many careers also require updates.
