Looking For An Affordable Car? Check Out These Five Models For Under R$ 24 Thousand, Which Have Prices As Accessible As A Bicycle. Learn More About These Economic Options In The Used Vehicle Market!

Having an affordable car can be an excellent way to save money, but it also brings challenges, especially when we talk about models over two decades old. Keeping that in mind, we’ve listed five models that are over 20 years old, each recognized for their durability and resilience.

Moreover, the cost is affordable: all have an average value similar to that of an advanced sports bicycle, around R$ 24 thousand. Check out our list and find out which car model could be ideal for you.

1. Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla is known for its durability and reliability. Imported to Brazil since 1992, it started with the LE 1.8 16V version, with 115 hp, but the more affordable DX version arrived in 1994 with a 1.6 16V engine and 106 hp.

The national model began assembly in 1998 and soon became a direct rival to the Honda Civic, offering a comfortable sedan option with excellent fuel economy.

Furthermore, its average consumption is approximately 10 km/l in the city and 14 km/l on the highway, according to Inmetro, making it a good choice for those seeking long-term savings.

2. Fiat Strada, An Excellent Affordable Car

For those in need of an affordable and reliable pickup truck, the Fiat Strada is a great choice. Launched in 1998 to replace the Fiorino, the Strada came with a 1.5 Fiasa engine producing 76 hp, in addition to Trekking and LX versions, both with a 1.6 engine and power ranging from 92 to 106 hp. Its bed has a capacity of up to 1,100 liters, a differentiator compared to the Volkswagen Saveiro.

This pickup is ideal for those looking to start small transport businesses, such as delivery or hauling, and its market value hovers around R$ 24 thousand, especially for older, well-maintained models.

3. Honda Fit

Although the Honda Fit was discontinued in Brazil in 2021, older versions are still in demand, particularly the generation from 2003 to 2008. Besides being compact and versatile, the Fit features a rear seat folding system that increases the trunk capacity from 363 liters to up to 1,045 liters, depending on the configuration.

With affordable prices, it’s possible to find the LX version, with a 1.4 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission, for less than R$ 25 thousand. Equipped with air conditioning and power steering, the Fit remains a practical option for daily use.

4. Volkswagen Gol

The Volkswagen Gol is one of the most popular and best-selling cars in Brazil. With production starting in 1980, the Gol remained on the market until 2022. The G2 version, launched in 1994, and the G3, introduced in 1999, are the most sought after by those looking for a reliable and easy-to-maintain model.

The “Bolinha” version brought electronic fuel injection and became the favorite for those wanting better fuel economy and performance.

Meanwhile, the flex models from G3 innovated the Brazilian market and, to this day, are an investment option for those seeking a durable and inexpensive vehicle, with prices ranging from R$ 22 to 24 thousand.

5. Chevrolet Zafira

The Chevrolet Zafira made its mark on the Brazilian minivan market with its capacity for seven people, making it an excellent option for large families. Produced between 2001 and 2012, the Zafira featured a practical third-row seat folding system that did not compromise the trunk space.

The Zafira FlexPower with a 2.0-liter engine, launched in 2004, has a flexible motorization that combines economy and performance, with up to 140 hp. The current price of the early units is around R$ 24,500, a great option for those needing space without giving up a well-equipped vehicle.

Choosing a used car that is over 20 years old can be a beneficial decision, provided it is made carefully. Models like the Toyota Corolla, Fiat Strada, Honda Fit, Volkswagen Gol, and Chevrolet Zafira stand out for their resilience and reliability, offering an accessible and sturdy alternative for those looking to save without compromising on quality and durability.
