Technological Innovations in Bioinputs Will Be Increased at the New Factory
Agrobiológica Sustentabilidade is a biological products company within the Crop Care holding (manager of agricultural inputs companies) that had products applied to over 11 million hectares in the Brazilian harvest of 2021/22. Currently, the company is investing around R$ 100 million in the construction of a new manufacturing plant in Itápolis (SP) and in the expansion of research and development.
The speed of construction is surprising, as the inauguration of the SP factory is scheduled for July of this year. The company’s goal is to enhance new bioinput technologies, registrations, and market expansion. This will enable an increase in its production capacity, which could serve over 50 million hectares of different crops.
The Fastest Growing Area of Agricultural Inputs is the Biological Products Segment
Crop Care CEO Marcelo Pessanha stated in an interview with Globo Rural, that the fastest growing area of agricultural inputs is the biological products segment. According to him, there are several technical and market reasons for this growth, and there is also an awareness among farmers regarding ESG [Environmental, Social, and Governance]. The executive further added: “There is also societal pressure for this agenda to be a priority in food production.”

A survey conducted by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) shows that approximately 95% of producers believe in the growth of the biological inputs market. This figure is evidenced by the frequent launch of products for the field, according to Globo Rural.
Investments in Biological Research and Development for the SP Factory
The importance of the biological input market in Brazil and worldwide has been increasingly recognized along with societal demands for more sustainable alternatives in agribusiness, especially in soybean and corn crops. Moreover, this evolution challenges the bioinput sector to seek maximization of crop productivity and balance production systems.
Thus, investment in research and development by the bioinput industry will be crucial for attracting and training qualified professionals. “We will partner with universities and have our own research area for technology development; this will give us considerable speed,” concludes Pessanha.
