According to Rigue, if the bill is in good condition, it can reach surprising values. “A bill with this detail can be worth up to R$ 400, depending on its condition. The better preserved it is, the higher its value will be“, explains the expert. This care with preservation is essential for those who want to profit from the sale of rare notes.

Other Valuable Bills And Coins In The Market

In addition to the R$ 5 note, there are other bills in circulation that can also be valuable, even if they seem common at first glance. One example is the R$ 10 note, which, just like the R$ 5 note, may have an asterisk in the serial number.

This detail can make its value in the collector’s market reach an impressive R$ 4,000, depending on its condition.

“Many believe that the most valuable R$ 10 bill is the plastic one, released to commemorate the anniversary of the Real Plan. However, there are older models with rare details that are even more coveted“, highlights Rigue.

It’s not just banknotes that can surprise you. Printing errors on coins can also make them valuable items. A curious example is a 50-cent coin erroneously issued with the value of 5 cents. Today, this coin can be worth up to R$ 1,800 for collectors interested in pieces with rare defects.
