According to Azambuja, it is important to resume investments such as the reactivation of the thermal power plant that has been idle for four years. He stated that new partnerships were made through tax incentives and participation from MSGás and Energisa. In addition to energy, the thermal power plant will bring to the state ICMS, jobs, and new opportunities.

Minister Bento Albuquerque emphasized that the reactivation of the thermal power plant demonstrates that, although we are going through a water crisis, Brazil and Mato Grosso do Sul have other energy possibilities that are being installed, which is a great help at a moment like this.

According to the minister, the plant in MS is yet another example to overcome the crisis. The natural gas plant had been inactive and will now play an essential role in this fight.

Leading the natural gas unit is Delta Geração, which entered the sector after the new regulatory framework in April. The unit resumed operations on July 10 and will be fully operational by next week. The president of Delta Geração, Luiz Fernando Vianna, stated that the energy produced at the plant is equivalent to 50% of the city’s energy consumption.

According to the executive, since it started operations on the 10th, it already has three machines capable of producing 120 MW, and next week, five machines will go into operation, potentially reaching a capacity of 190 MW. For the president of MSGás, Rui Pires, the reactivation of the thermal power plant will contribute to the state economy by generating jobs and income.

According to the executive, the state benefits greatly. Every time gas enters the country, it generates ICMS for the state. Pires also explains that the energy generated at the natural gas unit goes to the national system but provides energy security to the state. Thus, it is a partnership that brings benefits to all.
