The Cargo Arriving In Bahia Will Be 1 Million Barrels And Should Ensure Productivity Gain For The Mataripe Refinery, Which Was The First Site To Experience Privatization By Petrobras
The former Landulpho Alves, now Mataripe Refinery, a pioneer unit of privatization by Petrobras, will receive this week a ship with a cargo of 1 million barrels of oil, which will be designated to produce fuels and their derivatives. With these figures, this will be the largest vessel to ever supply the production site in Bahia, which was purchased by Acelen, a Mubadala fund company, not long ago.

In addition, the company also explained that to supply the local piers, the “ship to ship” process is underway, which refers to smaller vessels accessing the storage locations.
“The Refinery Continues Operating Optimally Without Posing Supply Risks To The Market,” The Company’s Statement Declared.

Investments In The Bahia Refinery
The first refinery to be privatized by Petrobras was Landulpho Alves, located in Bahia, which, after being acquired by Acelen, had its name changed to Mataripe. In addition to it, nine other Petrobras units will undergo the privatization process over the coming years. After acquiring the Mataripe site on January 1, Acelen is already implementing a project aimed at a series of investments at the location.
The Petrobras teams will support Acelen during the 18-month transition period, providing operational services at the Mataripe unit.
In order to modernize some of the production sectors, a major maintenance shutdown is planned for 2022. This is due to Acelen’s desire to increase the average production level of the refinery from around 70% to figures above 90%.
According to data provided by the company itself, the Mataripe refinery is responsible for about 30% of what is produced industrially in Bahia, in addition to accounting for about 20% of the ICMS collection in the state.
