Brand Confirms Production of 65,000 Annual Units of Renault Niagara to Serve Brazilian and Argentinian Markets. New Pickup Promises to Be the Great Rival of Fiat Toro.
Renault is accelerating the development of the Renault Niagara, its new mid-size pickup that arrives to face heavyweight rivals like Fiat Toro, Ram Rampage, and Ford Maverick. The newcomer, approximately five meters long, promises to shake up the segment and has confirmed production: 65,000 annual units to serve the markets of Brazil, Argentina, and export.
The announcement was made by Pablo Sibilla, president of Renault in Argentina, in an interview with the newspaper La Nación. According to Sibilla, the production of the Renault Niagara will begin in the second half of 2026, marking the brand’s entry into a competitive market.
Focus on Hybrid Technology of Renault Niagara
The Renault Niagara will be built on the RGMP modular platform, featuring a double-cab configuration and a payload capacity of around 700 kg. Although many expect a dCi diesel engine, environmental requirements of Proconve L8 in Brazil have opened the door for the adoption of hybrid powertrains.

The Renault Niagara will not just be another pickup on the market. The French brand aims to position it as a technological and accessible alternative to segment leaders such as the Fiat Toro.
The dual-clutch transmission (EDC) ensures superior performance over traditional CVTs, providing power to the front wheels. For the Argentine market, however, an AWD version may be on the radar, much like the Oroch.
Expectation of Debut in Brazil
The Renault Niagara project reinforces the brand’s strategy to grow in the mid-size pickup segment. Set to debut in 2026, it promises to be a strong competitor to the Fiat Toro, combining hybrid technology, performance, and competitive pricing to gain ground in Brazil and Latin America.
