The main reason is the volume of reserves in the development plan for phase 2 of the Búzios oil field, which is much larger than that of phase 1. The new phase is set to begin in 2024, according to Petrobras president.
Meanwhile, Petrobras is already searching the market for qualified EPC companies to participate in its tenders for the supply of FPSOs.
The tender does not yet have a scheduled date, but it is already eagerly awaited by the EPC market (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction).
The EBR shipyard in São José do Norte, in the south of the country, has already been announced by Petrobras as pre-qualified, according to the new state-owned enterprises law that requires this phase in new tenders.
According to EBR’s commercial manager, Luiz Felipe Camargo, “This pre-qualification is very important for EBR, as it proves our ability to satisfactorily deliver complete projects, based on our recent history. It also demonstrates our financial capacity to compete with large companies in the international market, as well as certifying Petrobras’s satisfaction with our work, for which we were awarded for the early delivery of the oil from the FPSO P-74.”
Pre-Qualification Petrobras
To pre-qualify a company, Petrobras requires, in addition to good financial health, proof of delivery, in the last 10 years, of an FPSO with a minimum production capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil per day and treatment of 2 million m³ of gas per day.
The pre-qualification achieved by the shipyard is valid for 1 year, and it is expected that the tender marking Petrobras’s return to contracting its own units will take place before the expiration of this period.
The EBR shipyard stood out in the construction of the FPSO P-74 and today manufactures modules for Modec. The company is part of the group Toyo Engineering, well-known in the EPC market.
