Rio de Janeiro receives its first project for the construction of offshore wind farms and will be located in the Campos Basin

Neoenergia starts three new projects for the construction of offshore wind farms in the states of RS, CE and Rio de Janeiro; together, they add up to 9 GW of installed capacity in 600 wind turbines.

Neoenergia starts in Rio de Janeiro, RS and CE the three largest projects under planning in the country for the construction of offshore wind farms, which together add up to 9 GW of installed capacity in 600 wind turbines. Starting the week in full swing, more than 400 job vacancies announced by multinational, CV at the door on Wednesday, January 08th.

750 MW parks will be invested in each state from 50 wind turbines, four platforms with substations, transmission lines and a substation on land.

The undertakings are prepared through Força Eólica do Brasil (FEB), controlled by Neoenergia, through direct participation and, indirectly, by Elektro Renováveis, from the same group.

In addition to these three new offshore wind installation projects by Neoenergia, the following projects have already started environmental licensing at Ibama: Petrobras pilot project, in Ubarana (RN); BI Energia and Eólica Brasil (Asa Branca), in Ceará; and Caju Offshore, from Rialma (MA)

The company contemplates Rio de Janeiro, which will have its first offshore wind project in the state. The development is located on the route of the large mature fields producing the Campos Basin, south of Parque das Baleias, on the coast of Espírito Santo, where the Maravilha parks 1 to 4 belonging to the Maravilha complex are located, positioned between São João da Barra and Campos dos Goytacazes, RJ.

The state governor, Wilson Witzel (PSC), has defended the defederalization of energy auctions so that the state can make its own grants for wind and solar energy generation.

The complex is close to the shallow water fields recently sold by Petrobras to Perenco and has a dense infrastructure for offshore oil production and handling operations.

The energy will arrive on land from transmission cables that will pass along the coast of São João da Barra, 10 km from Grussaí. From there, they proceed to the onshore substation, connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN).

One of the other undertakings to be installed will be the parks Jangada 1 to 4 on the coast of the municipality of Amontada, in Ceará. The complex is close to the Atum, Xaréu, Curimã and Espada fields, which Petrobras is selling in the shallow waters of the Ceará Basin and the exploratory projects operated by Total, ExxonMobil, Premier Oil and Chevron, contracted in the 11th round of the ANP (2013 ); and Wintershall, from the 15th round (2018).

Ceará is the only one with a record of receipt of the grant application (DRO) issued by Aneele, in addition to being one of the states with the greatest potential for offshore wind installations, with a capacity of 117 GW, capable of generating from 506 TWh to 520 TWh per year .

The third offshore wind project announced by Neoenergia will be in Rio Grande do Sul, in the Águas Claras complex, designed for the coast of the municipalities of Capão da Canoa and Xangri-lá, neighbors of Osório, a pioneering region that received the first wind farm in the country.

Rio Grande do Sul is now the fourth largest in terms of installed wind capacity (onshore), with more than 80 parks and 1,8 GW of power.
