The Green Industry Port Project Is One of the Great Bets for Offshore Wind Energy Generation in the State. After the Initial Studies, Rio Grande do Norte Wants to Count on the Support of the Federal Government for Future Investments in the Plant.
The Government of the State of Rio Grande do Norte aims to partner with the Federal Government for the development of the Green Industry Port. The plant, which will be installed in the northern part of the state, has the potential to transform the state into a true hub of production for offshore wind energy. After the initial environmental study phase, Governor Fátima Bezerra is mobilizing to attract investments for the project in 2023.
Attracting Investments for the Green Industry Port Infrastructure in Rio Grande do Norte Is Fátima Bezerra’s Main Goal in 2023
One of the states with the greatest potential for offshore wind energy production in Brazil, Rio Grande do Norte is now seeking a partnership with the Federal Government for one of its largest projects: the Green Industry Port.
Located in the northern part of the state, the enterprise promises to transform it into a hub for offshore wind energy production in Brazil.

Fátima Bezerra, the governor of the state, aims to form Public-Private Partnerships for the development of the hub, with investments expected to be achieved throughout 2023.
“The state currently produces 7 GW of wind energy, next year we will complete 10 years of production in Brazil. And now we are preparing to live a new moment in the context of diversifying the energy matrix, which is the decarbonization not only of the country but of the planet with offshore wind energy for the world,” the governor stated in a recent speech.
The studies for the Green Industry Port began in 2020, with the first phase focusing on environmental impact assessments and the feasibility of building the plant.
Now, the State Government is turning its attention to attracting investments for the necessary infrastructure for the project.
Fátima Bezerra’s goal is to transform the offshore wind energy production plant into a logistical support for the national energy market.
Fátima Bezerra Claims Federal Government Support for the Green Industry Port Could Revolutionize Rio Grande do Norte in the Coming Decades
After the first phase of project feasibility for the Green Industry Port, the Government of Rio Grande do Norte is mobilizing for the next phases.
The second one aims to trigger the EIA Rima for the project that will be on the northern coast of the state. The state’s main idea is to have the Federal Government as the main partner and supporter of the project.
According to Fátima Bezerra, this could ensure a true port and energy revolution in the state in the coming decades.
She also emphasized that the Federal Government places great importance on energy transition projects in the country. Thus, the potiguar hub for offshore wind energy could be one of the main ones.
“Fundamentally, it will be for offshore, considering the state’s capacity to generate up to 140 GW of energy offshore. This port infrastructure to be installed here in Caiçara do Norte will be mainly aimed at ensuring the logistics necessary for production, distribution, and exploration of energy with green hydrogen,” the governor added.
Now, what remains for Rio Grande do Norte is to continue seeking investments to transform the Green Industry Port into a future hub for offshore wind energy.
