Honda Rival, Suzuki, Has Just Launched the Cheapest Motorcycle in Its Category on the International Market That Can Deliver Up to 26.13 Horsepower.

New electric motorcycle models emerge almost every day, leaving all enthusiasts eager to get a new one; however, the latest model from Suzuki, Honda’s rival, may impress everyone as the cheapest motorcycle on the market in its category. Suzuki is a renowned Japanese manufacturer of automobiles, motorcycles, and marine engines.

Honda’s rival has already launched its 2023 Gixxer 250 lineup, unveiling the new generation of this global model in Australia. The lineup retains the two previous configurations, one naked and the other sporty, competing with vehicles such as the Honda CB300R.

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Gixxer 250 SF are two motorcycles that share the same base, differing mainly in terms of design. The Gixxer 250 is a naked version, while the Gixxer 250 SF features more prominent fairings.

Features of the New Motorcycles Launched by Suzuki

Both models are equipped with a 249 cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine capable of delivering 26.13 horsepower at 9,300 rpm and a maximum torque of 2.2 kgfm at 7,300 rpm, combined with a six-speed transmission.

The vehicles feature telescopic front forks and a mono-shock at the rear, as well as disc brakes at the front and rear with an ABS system. The budget motorcycles have 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, and split seats. Additionally, they come with a dashboard that offers connectivity with smartphones.

Suzuki’s ‘Cheap’ Motorcycle Costs R$ 3,990

In Australia, Honda’s rival has set the prices of the cheapest motorcycle on the market at 6,490 and 6,790 Australian dollars, respectively, which translates to approximately R$ 20,400 and R$ 21,300 in direct conversion.

This means that these vehicles enter the market at a more affordable price than one of their foreign rivals, the Honda CB 300 R, which costs around 8,220 dollars, approximately R$ 25,000 in conversion. Although these news models have arrived in the external market, it is unlikely that the Suzuki Gixxer 250 lineup will be available in Brazil.

Suzuki’s representative in the country, Grupo J. Toledo, has chosen to focus solely on high-displacement motorcycles, leaving lower power and cost options to its Chinese partners, Haojue and Zontes.

The Cheapest Motorcycle in the World Belongs to Suzuki

Suzuki has launched its newest budget motorcycle, called the GS120, which stands out for its affordable price of R$ 3,990. This motorcycle is available on the market as an economical option for consumers, offering mobility and savings.

The Suzuki GS 120 was created with the goal of being a utility product and achieving high sales volume, which the Yes 125 and GSR 150 did not accomplish.

The model positioned itself in the price gap of the Honda Pop but offered advantages, as it was a motorcycle rather than a scooter. The GS 120 featured spoked wheels and a four-speed rotary manual transmission, sequential type, similar to the cub style models like Honda Biz and Yamaha Crypton.

Honda Rival Also Focuses on Electric Motorcycles

In addition to the launch of its new budget motorcycle, in January of this year, Suzuki officially announced its strategy focused on achieving carbon neutrality in multiple regions around the world. For Japan and European countries, the automaker states it plans to achieve this goal by 2050.

For India, this goal is set a bit further away, in 2070. So far, the Japanese automaker has not made any statements regarding other regions, so initially, there are no electrification plans for the national market.

Having a global objective in mind is essential; however, a company that has primarily produced models fueled by polluting fuels up to this point must make several decisions and steps to achieve neutrality. Suzuki claims it will bring to market a battery-powered electric motorcycle only by mid-fiscal year 2024.
