In June, Rosneft signed a letter of intent with the government of Amazonas stating that operations in the Solimões Basin are priorities for the development of the state.
The company resumed drilling operations in the region in 2017, having drilled four new wells since then. The estimate is that the area explored by Rosneft has reserves of 57 million tons of oil.
The Russian oil company took over the operation of the assets after purchasing the stake of partner HRT (which became PetroRio) and is seeking ways to develop gas discoveries in the region.
