The Modernization of Tecon Santos at the Port of Santos with the Investment of R$ 540 Million Made by Santos Brasil Continues in Full Swing and the Company Has Just Acquired New Forklifts and Cranes for the Complex.

The company Santos Brasil, responsible for the management of Tecon Santos, located at the Port of Santos, is continuing its investment project in infrastructure and equipment, which has a total investment of R$ 540 million over the coming years. The company has acquired new large forklifts and cranes to enable the expansion of cargo handling capacity at the port terminal with even more safety and efficiency.

New Cranes and Forklifts from Santos Brasil at Tecon Santos Are Part of the Company’s Equipment Investment Plan at the Port of Santos

With an investment of R$ 130 million for the purchase of the equipment, Santos Brasil has finalized the acquisition of two state-of-the-art cranes and two empty container forklifts for its terminal at the Port of Santos, Tecon Santos.

This is yet another step taken in the company’s investment plan in infrastructure and equipment at the complex, which foresees a total of R$ 540 million allocated for the modernization of cargo handling structure.

The investment plan in equipment and modernization of the infrastructure of Tecon Santos aims primarily to expand the terminal’s capacity from 2.4 million TEUs/year to 2.6 million and is expected to be completed by the year 2023.

The acquisition of the new cranes and forklifts is just one of the investments that will be made in cutting-edge equipment for the handling of goods in the national complex.

The two new cranes acquired by Santos Brasil were purchased from the Chinese company ZPMC and have a total height of 50 meters from the dock to the boom, in addition to a boom length of 70 meters and a total capacity to handle up to two full 20-foot containers.

These two new pieces of equipment will join the eight existing ZPMCs at Tecon Santos, and together they will significantly contribute to improving operational flexibility and cargo handling capacity.

They will also feature OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology to identify the numbering of containers, which will ensure even greater operational efficiency and safety.

Santos Brasil States It Will Continue to Invest in New Equipment and Prepares for the Next Purchase for the Modernization of Tecon Santos

In addition to the new cranes for Tecon Santos, the two new forklifts will also contribute to expanding the operational capacity of the Port of Santos. The new equipment was manufactured by Kalmar and has a capacity of nine tons for handling products.

Thus, the operational fleet of forklifts at Tecon Santos will be increased from six to eight of these pieces of equipment for the receipt and delivery of empty containers, thereby enhancing the company’s business potential.

Executive Antonio Carlos Sepúlveda, CEO of Santos Brasil, commented that the investment plan in equipment is ongoing and that the company is analyzing its next purchase, now for electric mobile gantry cranes (e-RTGs) and terminal tractors.

“All this, together with the remodeling of the yard, the raising of the warehouse’s ceiling height, and the use of a lot of artificial intelligence, will significantly increase our capacity, ensuring that the Port of Santos stays ahead of demand,” he said.

After the completion of this investment project in the modernization of Tecon Santos, Santos Brasil is already preparing for the next phase, which will involve an investment of R$ 600 million until 2031 to take the terminal to a capacity of 3 million TEUs per year at the Port of Santos.
