The Investments of R$ 120 Million Planned by Santos Brasil for the Tecon Vila do Conde Will Bring a Series of Benefits in the Expansion of Cargo Handling with Expansion Works of the Structure and Acquisition of New Equipment.

The port and logistics management company Santos Brasil is developing an investment plan for the Tecon Vila do Conde, located in the city of Barcarena (96 km from Belém), in Pará. The amount of R$ 120 million will be allocated to infrastructure works and the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment to expand the capacity for cargo handling at the site.

The Expansion Works Project by Santos Brasil at Tecon Vila do Conde Will Include R$ 120 Million in Investments Over the Next 3 Years

Aiming at the growth of its operations in the Brazilian port sector, Santos Brasil announced a new construction plan at Tecon Vila do Conde, located in the state of Pará.

This involves an investment of R$ 120 million directed towards expansion works and the purchase of new equipment, aiming to increase the terminal’s capacity by nearly 40%, from the current 217,000 TEUs/year to 300,000 TEUs/year by 2025.

The main goal of the company in the investment project at the Pará terminal is to expand the terminal area by an additional 20,000 m², totaling 108,000 m², in addition to including a new area for use as a yard for empty containers.

Additionally, the Tecon Vila do Conde warehouse will also undergo expansion works as part of the planned investments.

Among them is the elevation of the roof and shelves, which will allow for a 20% increase in storage capacity and an expansion of 55% in the area for refrigerated containers, totaling 450 connections.

Finally, the R$ 120 million in investments from Santos Brasil will not only be applied to works but also to the acquisition of new equipment for the terminal.

They include: 5 reach stackers, 1 MHC (Mobile Harbour Crane), 2 terminal tractors, 3 trucks, 3 semitrailers, 3 forklifts (one 7 tons and two 4 tons) and two truck cranes. Thus, the capacity for cargo handling in the complex will be greatly enhanced by the end of the project, scheduled for 2025.

The Company Has Been Making Strong Investments in Expanding Cargo Handling Operations and Plans to Expand Works at Tecon Vila do Conde

The expansion works project by Santos Brasil for Tecon Vila do Conde is just one of the steps the company has taken in the pursuit of increasing the cargo handling at the site. This is because, during the years 2018 and 2019, the organization invested a total of R$ 60 million in the expansion and modernization of the terminal.

Additionally, the last fortnight of July was marked by the completion of drainage and paving revitalization works on the existing yard, which totaled another R$ 24 million in investments.

Thus, Antonio Carlos Sepúlveda, CEO of Santos Brasil, emphasized that Tecon Vila do Conde will achieve a new dimension of operations and cargo handling business with the company’s investments: “We will have a leap in productivity and service quality, as well as a significant increase in capacity. It is a milestone for regional development.”

Santos Brasil is now proceeding with the acquisition of equipment and the development of the construction plan to complete the project on schedule in 2025 and meet the proposed goals for the initiative.
