Seadrill, a global leader in offshore drilling, has an exciting job opening for qualified and proactive professionals who wish to advance their careers in the Oil and Gas sector. This is an opportunity to join the “Resource Pool”, a versatile team that provides crucial support to the company’s six drill ships operating in Brazil. Although the initial allocation is dynamic and without a fixed schedule, there is the prospect of transitioning to a fixed position on a specific drill ship, depending on your performance, safety focus, and interpersonal skills. The position is for Radio Operator / Platform Administrator, operating from Drill Ships.

Selection Process

The Seadrill selection process for this position will be conducted with the aim of identifying candidates who not only meet the technical requirements but also demonstrate alignment with the company’s values, particularly regarding safety and teamwork. The stages typically include resume analysis, technical and behavioral tests, interviews with the Human Resources department and area managers. The company seeks engaged professionals with excellent communication skills, given the multicultural environment on board (crew with expatriates and Brazilians).

RADIO OPERATOR / PLATFORM ADMINISTRATOR – Resource Pool (Rio de Janeiro)

This Radio Operator / Platform Administrator position, based in Rio de Janeiro for offshore operations, is a critical role within Seadrill‘s structure. The professional will be responsible for operating and maintaining all communication equipment located in the radio room(s), ensuring effective and uninterrupted communication. In addition, they will be tasked with managing POB (Personnel On Board) allocations, including distribution in lifeboats and cabins, keeping the POB system updated and distributing the list as necessary. Their responsibilities extend to external communication during safety drills and emergencies, controlling emergency preparedness operations and maintaining emergency panels. The professional will also manage all communications related to helicopter operations, ensuring that the passenger manifest, cargo, and related operations are correct. Maintaining all applicable reports and records as required by the supervisor, assisting in drills and inspections, and ensuring complete handovers at each daily shift change are essential parts of the scope. The working hours follow an offshore regime, usually on rotation schedules (e.g., 14×14 or 28×28 days), to be confirmed during the selection process. The start date will be determined after the completion of the selection process and admission procedures.

Job Requirements

To apply for this challenging opportunity at Seadrill, candidates must possess: High school diploma; Valid GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System); Valid CNS014 (National Certificate of Safety for Radio Operator); Valid CBSP (Basic Platform Safety Course); Valid THUET (Trainee for Underwater Escape Training) or valid Huet Opito. Previous experience as a platform administrator and knowledge of SAP and Drake systems are essential. The ability to communicate clearly in English is fundamental, due to the international nature of the crew. Previous experience in drilling companies is considered an advantage, given the fast-paced environment.
