Facelift Expected for 2028 Puts the Ram Rampage on the Radar for Changes in the Bed and Mechanics, with RamBox, New Tailgate, and Preparation for Electrification Bio-Hybrid.
Four years after being officially introduced in June 2023 and hitting the stores in the second half of that year, the Ram Rampage is pointed out by specialized publications as a candidate for a deeper facelift in 2028, focusing on utility and electrification.
The update, still not confirmed in official brand communications, would include subtle appearance changes and unprecedented solutions in the bed, while also preparing the mechanical ensemble for different degrees of hybridization within Stellantis’ Bio-Hybrid strategy.
RamBox in the Rampage Bed
Among the noteworthy new features is the adoption of the RamBox, a system of side compartments with their own lid, locking, and sealing, known in the brand’s larger pickups and designed to store smaller items more organized.

Costing R$ 12,490, the new Shineray Urban Lite 150 “cheap one” arrives in Brazil with a CVT transmission, digital dashboard, and LED lights, making it more affordable than the Biz and targeting those who want to abandon the bus.

Ducati brings to Brazil the Superleggera V4 Centenario: 228 hp that become 247 with a track kit, carbon fiber and carbon-ceramic brakes, estimated price between R$ 1.5 and 2 million, deliveries only in 2027.
In practice, these side niches expand the possibilities for everyday use, as they allow the separation of tools, sports items, and accessories without mixing everything in the main area of the bed, reducing the need for loose boxes and improvised transport.
On the other hand, the accommodation of the RamBox tends to require physical space, which usually decreases the useful internal width of the bed, a point that may affect very bulky loads, even if the loss is partial and concentrated on the sides.

Still, the market reading is that the convenience of a protected and easily accessible compartment may weigh more for part of the audience, especially in a segment where competition also involves practicality, finish, and differentiation.
Tailgate with Dual Opening
Another item mentioned as part of the package is a new rear tailgate with dual opening, allowing use in the traditional downward mode and also in a split lateral format, designed to facilitate access in tight spaces.
When the pickup is parked against a wall, in a short space, or with a trailer nearby, the lateral opening tends to reduce the user’s effort, bringing the body closer to the bed and aiding in handling items without requiring much reach.
If the feature moves to production, the aim is to enhance versatility without eliminating the conventional solution, preserving the opening mode that many drivers still prefer when dealing with larger loads or when supporting equipment at the rear limit.
Bio-Hybrid and Stellantis Electrification
On the technical side, Stellantis has been publicly describing the Bio-Hybrid family as an umbrella of flexible hybrid technologies planned for different brands in the group in Brazil, with variations ranging from mild hybrids to more complete solutions.
In recent reports, the evolution includes the production and application of 48V systems and other architectures, with adoption timelines for models manufactured in Goiana, Pernambuco, a movement that aligns with the universe where the Rampage is produced.

Within this context, the facelift attributed to the 2028 line appears as a bridge between the current Rampage and a broader electrification stage, aligned with what the group has been signaling to meet consumption, emissions, and regulatory demands.
As there is no official technical sheet for a “Rampage 2028,” any details regarding power, electric range, or transmission calibration remain open and can only be treated, for now, as possibilities mentioned by industry sources.
Electrified 1.3 Turbo Flex Engine
The same investigations associate future electrification with the 1.3 turbo flex engine, already known in Stellantis’ portfolio in other national models, but which is not part of the current Rampage lineup, which today is offered with 2.0 gasoline and 2.0 turbodiesel engines.
The idea would be to combine the 1.3 turbo with hybrid systems at different levels, which could include from electric assistance to reduce consumption in urban areas to more complex configurations if the strategy includes plug-in versions.
For now, however, this scenario has not come with confirmation from Ram about versions, timelines, or prices, which prevents treating as a finalized decision what, in automotive news, still appears as planning in development.
Facelift and Competitiveness in the Segment

The four-year cycle is often a benchmark used by the industry for significant updates, and the Rampage, positioned as a mid-range pickup with a more refined proposal, has entered this interval since its commercial debut in Brazil in 2023.
In addition to aesthetic adjustments, the combination of RamBox and multifunctional tailgate is cited as a way to reinforce practical use of the bed, an important argument in a segment that sells on both style and daily convenience.
At the same time, electrification emerges as the most sensitive axis of the project, as it impacts costs, architecture, and consumer perception, especially in a market where flexible hybrids are gaining ground as an intermediate alternative to pure electric.
Without official performance and consumption figures, what exists so far is a sketch of a strategic direction: to increase the supply of electrified solutions in Brazil and, along this path, prepare national products to receive hybridization technologies in stages.
With the facelift pointed toward 2028 and electrification entering the project’s vocabulary, the question that remains is direct: when will Ram officialize the next steps, which items will become standard and which will be restricted to the more expensive versions?
