Data Released by ANP Showed That Biodiesel Production Was Not Encouraging for the Mills, but There Was Improvement Compared to 2020
The ANP – National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, showed that biodiesel production, a liquid biofuel considered a renewable energy source, was 489.3 thousand cubic meters at the beginning of the year. It is relatively common for the market to experience a slowdown at the beginning of each year. Typically, the months of January and February are the weakest.

The RenovaBio program from the Federal Government, which aims to expand the production of biofuels in Brazil, will add four new plants to the decarbonization market. A public consultation process has been opened for the certification of the biodiesel plants in Canoas (RS) belonging to Bianchini, Palmeiras (GO) from Minerva, São Simão (GO), and Sorriso (MT), both from the Caramuru Group.
The RenovaBio Program:
The main instrument of RenovaBio is the establishment of annual national decarbonization targets for the fuel sector, in order to encourage the increase in production and participation of biofuels in the country’s energy transport matrix.
Producers and importers of biofuels who wish to join the program will hire accredited inspection firms from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) to carry out the Biofuel Certification and validation of the Energy-Environmental Efficiency Note and the eligible volume.
