In Lagoa Nova, Rural Zone of Quixeramobim, Ceará, A Widowed Worker Decides to Invest in A Small Plot of About 17 Tasks, Transforms The Area With Barbed Wire Fencing, And Plans to Build A Simple House and A Water Reservoir to Start A New Phase of Life in The Countryside

Amid the dry landscapes of the Ceará hinterland, a simple yet determined story is catching attention. A 59-year-old man decided to start practically from scratch by purchasing a small piece of land in the community of Lagoa Nova, in the municipality of Quixeramobim, Ceará, paying only R$ 5,500 for the land.

The decision was made even without a guaranteed pension and after facing difficult moments in his personal life. Still, the rural worker chose to invest in what he considers a new beginning: a small property in the hinterland, where he intends to live, plant, and build his own dwelling.

This information was revealed in a video published on a regional channel that records stories from the hinterland, showing details of the purchased area and the beginning of the transformation of the land.

Simple Land in The Hinterland Begins to Be Transformed

Shortly after acquiring the land, the new owner immediately began working on the area. One of the first actions was to fence the entire property with five wires of barbed wire, creating a basic protection structure for the land.

According to reports shown in the video, each meter of fence of this type can cost about R$ 14, which demonstrates that even an apparently simple investment requires considerable financial effort for those living in the countryside.

Despite this, the worker chose to do the job himself, using simple tools and a lot of physical effort.

The acquired area has approximately 17 tasks of land, although the measurements can still be confirmed later by a more precise cubing process.

Even though it is a small plot, the region has a characteristic valued by local farmers: red soil considered fertile, where it is possible to plant different crops.

Fertile Land and Agricultural Production Potential

According to residents of the region, the type of soil found there allows for the cultivation of various crops typical of the northeastern hinterland.

Among the crops that can develop in the area are:

  • corn
  • forage cactus
  • grass for livestock
  • small subsistence farms

This type of land, although often underestimated in the market, can become highly productive when properly utilized.

Moreover, the land has another important factor: access to a three-phase electricity grid, something that facilitates future improvements on the property.

With electricity available, it becomes possible to install agricultural equipment, water pumps, or small productive structures.

Project Includes Simple House and Construction of Water Reservoir

The new owner’s plan is not limited to just keeping the land fenced. He is already thinking of building a small simple house on the property, following the traditional model from the countryside.

In the past, according to reports from the community itself, many couples started life exactly that way: in small mud houses built right on the farm.

Besides the housing, another important project is the construction of a water reservoir, which is a small water reservoir excavated in the soil.

This type of structure is extremely common in the hinterland as it allows for the storage of rainwater during the winter period.

In regions where rainfall is scarce and irregular, having a water reservoir can mean water security for animals, crops, and domestic use.

Simple Life and Hard Work in The Countryside

Even at 59 years old, the worker continues to perform heavy activities in the field, using tools like an axe and chainsaw to prepare the area.

He also has a long history connected to rural life. Over the years, he built four mud houses, a type of traditional construction very common in rural areas of the Northeast.

During the conversation recorded in the video, he further reports that he raised 10 children working on the farm, highlighting a lifetime dedicated to working in the field.

Recently, however, he faced a difficult loss: the death of his wife, making this new beginning even more symbolic.

Despite this situation, the farmer decided to continue working and investing in his small piece of land.

Small Property May Appreciate in The Future

Although the land was purchased for only R$ 5,500, local residents believe that areas like this can appreciate over time.

This mainly occurs when the owner makes basic improvements, such as:

  • fencing
  • house construction
  • water reservoirs
  • land preparation for planting

With these transformations, simple lands can gain new value in the rural market.

Moreover, the growth of small productive properties in the countryside also contributes to strengthening the local economy.

Hinterland Stories Continue to Inspire

The northeastern hinterland is known for stories of resilience, hard work, and new beginnings. The purchase of this small plot represents exactly that spirit.

Even without significant financial resources, the farmer decided to bet on hard work and land as a way to rebuild his life.

While waiting for the next rains and continuing to prepare the land, he remains steadfast in his goal: to transform that small piece of ground into a new home and a new opportunity for the future.

And you, would you have the courage to start from scratch by buying a piece of land in the hinterland to rebuild your life?
