The City Hall of Caldas Novas, in Goiás, announced the opening of a new public contest for the Municipal Guard. The competition offers 15 immediate vacancies, in addition to 45 opportunities for a reserve list. According to the data released by the city hall, the edital for the public contest is expected to be published still in the first semester of 2025. The organizing body chosen for the selection process was the National Institute of Education, Research, Instruction, and Public Security (INEP Brazil).
The Government of Caldas Novas, through the Superintendency of Security and Mobility (SMM), has even begun the legal process for the public contest. According to Murilo Henrique, municipal superintendent of Security and Mobility, after hiring INEP, the process of defining the general terms and deadlines of the edital will be analyzed.

The Municipal Civil Guard of Caldas Novas always complies with and observes the minimum principles of operation for guards. The role of the Municipal Guard is multifaceted and among its responsibilities is patrolling public places such as parks, squares, and streets, focusing on crime prevention and ensuring the safety of the population.
Moreover, those who pass the selection process are often called to respond to a variety of occurrences, including traffic accidents, thefts, robberies, and assaults. Thus, they serve as first responders in many incidents, being essential for the quick and effective resolution of emergency situations.
Who Can Participate in the Selection Process?
The public contest intended for the city of Caldas Novas has requirements such as being a native or naturalized Brazilian, holding a National Driver’s License, at least in category AB, being in full enjoyment of political rights, and being up to date with military and electoral obligations.
It is also essential to prove completion of secondary education, present physical, mental, and psychological fitness, be over 18 years old by the date of the appointment, be approved in medical or toxicological health exams, obtain negative certificates from relevant judicial authorities, and prove moral integrity through social investigation.
It is worth mentioning that the remuneration for those approved in the Municipal Guard selection process can vary between municipalities, averaging between R$ 1,500 and R$ 3,000. In addition to the base salary, GCMs usually have access to benefits such as meal vouchers, transportation vouchers, health and dental plans, life insurance, and bonuses.
