Oil and Gas Royalties Generate Over R$ 6 Million in Sergipe
The State of Sergipe received in October a payment of R$ 6.7 million in oil and natural gas royalties, referring to production for the month of August. The amount, disclosed by the FIES System Industry Observatory based on data from the National Agency of Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), reinforces the importance of the energy sector for the sergipana economy.
The oil and gas royalties are a financial compensation paid by companies that explore these resources within Brazilian territory. The transfer is made by the National Treasury Secretariat (STN) to states and municipalities, in accordance with the rules of laws nº 9.478/1997 and nº 7.990/1989.
Sergipe’s Economy Gains Strength with the Oil and Gas Sector
Although the amount for October represents a 10.3% drop compared to the same month in 2024 and is 5.1% lower than September of this year, the cumulative result from January to October 2025 shows growth. During this period, Sergipe accumulated approximately R$ 70 million in royalties — an increase of 12.5% compared to 2024.

Sergipe Municipalities Receive Over R$ 23 Million in Royalties
In addition to the state transfer, the municipalities of Sergipe also benefited from oil and natural gas royalties. In October 2025, the total distributed to the municipalities reached R$ 23.3 million, directly contributing to the strengthening of local economies.
The highlight was Riachuelo, which received R$ 6.4 million, equivalent to 27.5% of the total allocated to the municipalities. Right behind are Indiaroba, with R$ 4.4 million (18.9%), and Estância, with R$ 2.2 million (9.3%).

These amounts, although smaller, have a great local impact, especially in small towns, where oil and gas royalties represent an essential source of public revenue and investments in infrastructure, health, and education.
Royalties Strengthen the Energy and Economic Future of Sergipe
According to the FIES System Industry Observatory, the numbers reinforce the strategic role of Sergipe in the production of oil and natural gas in Brazil. The state has been increasing its participation in the national energy chain, attracting new investments and establishing itself as one of the main exploration hubs in the Northeast.
With the gradual increase in production and the growth of transfers, Sergipe positions itself as an important economic player in the energy landscape. Thus, the royalties become not only revenue but also a driver of sustainable development, ensuring new opportunities and strengthening the future of the sergipana economy.
