Cargo transport breaks record in Brazil: the largest and heaviest load ever transported for Petrobras
Recently, cargo transport in Brazil reached a new level of complexity and magnitude. A mega-operation involved seven trucks to move a gigantic piece weighing more than 500 tons for Petrobras.
This load, which many consider the largest and heaviest ever transported in Brazil, traveled an impressive route that involved several logistical and engineering challenges.
Colossal reactor transporting giant cargo for Petrobras
The item in question was a colossal reactor, part of a total of 13 pieces, transported in 2013 to the Petrobras fertilizer factory in Três Lagoas. After leaving China, the reactor arrived at the port of Rio Grande, in Rio Grande do Sul, went to Mar del Plata, in Argentina, went up the river to the Itaipu plant, in Foz do Iguaçu, and was finally taken to its final destination in Três Lagoas. During this journey, high voltage wires were erected and traffic was interrupted, attracting the attention of many local residents.
- Highway toll prices (BR) will be adjusted to more than R$60
- BR-101 closure: Transport of 250-ton transformer causes slow traffic between Pernambuco and Paraíba
- State innovates using concrete on its highways and achieves a high percentage of completion of works in just two months
- After 50 years, the famous Rio-Niterói Bridge changes its name and now pays homage to the concessionaire responsible for the site
To carry out this complex cargo transport operation, Petrobras had the support of several specialized companies. The company responsible for planning and executing the transport was Transdata, known for its expertise in logistics and transport of special cargo. Furthermore, Eletronorte collaborated in raising the high voltage wires to allow safe passage of the reactor.
Road transport
The road transport by Transdata of this reactor was a true spectacle. Moved on a platform with 180 tires and remote control, the reactor advanced at an average speed of 5 km/h. Each piece took around eight days to be moved, requiring rigorous strategic planning to minimize risks and ensure safety on the roads.
This special cargo transport operation is not an isolated event in Brazil. On another occasion, a plating machine, a machine used to shape steel parts, was taken from Espírito Santo to Minas Gerais, weighing an impressive 654 tons and measuring 111 meters in length. This road transport required a 25-day trip and four months of prior studies, demonstrating the complexity and preparation necessary to move such extraordinary loads.
These examples show how the transport of indivisible and special cargo in Brazil is a task that requires precise coordination, advanced technological resources and a highly qualified team. With each new challenge, the country stands out in logistics and road transport, overcoming barriers and setting new records.
All this logistics for transportation that turned into scrap has been abandoned since 2014, public money thrown in the trash
