Innovation In Logistics May Be The Way For Brazilian Retailers To Navigate The Impact Of Asian Sites Like Shein, Shopee And AliExpress
São Paulo, July 2022— With the entry of large Asian e-commerce platforms into the domestic market, Brazilian retailers must adapt to remain competitive. According to Webshoppers research by NielsenIQ|Ebit and Bexs, in 2021, 56% of consumers in the country shopped on Shopee, 21% on Shein, and 44% on AliExpress. Additionally, 68% of people purchased imported products in the last year and 71% stated they plan to continue shopping online outside Brazil.
In this scenario, companies here are beginning to adopt innovative logistics strategies to reduce costs and gain flexibility in sales. Some of these include the use of Dark Stores, bringing goods closer to consumers, and Ship from Store, which transforms physical stores into small distribution centers for online purchases. These solutions are being implemented as Asian companies also invest in distribution centers and reducing service times, since delivery delays are still a complaint among Brazilians purchasing from these foreign sites.

New Delivery Modalities
Guilherme Juliani, CEO of Grupo MOVE3, in the logistics field — responsible for companies like Flash Courier, Moove+, Moove+ Portugal, the printing company JallCard, fintech M3Bank, startup goX Crossborder and the carrier Rodoê — assesses that, in light of the current crisis, traditional companies can invest in new delivery modalities and the automation of their processes through technology. “Start considering technologies like Big Data, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, and robotics,” he exemplifies, adding that this type of investment, although not seen as essential, is what differentiates the company and retains the customer.

Currently, Moove+ offers logistics services for warehousing and distribution of products through trackable delivery, distribution centers in urban areas, among other solutions involving the use of technology for logistical simplification. Inventory and order management, for instance, is carried out through the WMS Storage Management Systems with reports and online controls that allow real-time tracking of the entire distribution journey, including via mobile devices. For deliveries, it relies on the services of Flash Courier franchises present throughout the national territory, with over 400 units.
Comfort And Convenience May Be The Game Changer
Some of these strategies have emerged in the post-pandemic environment, where retail embraces digital transformation, with consumers increasingly seeking comfort and convenience. Thus, the adoption of innovative products offered by startups by traditional companies enables the creation of new markets and the incorporation of macro trends in logistics and e-commerce, which also generates conveniences for the customer.
Some of these innovations in logistics are on the radar of Grupo MOVE3. “We are implementing various automatic functionalities in our logistics such as PUDOs (Pick Up & Drop Off), lockers, automatic address corrections, and contact via chatbot so that the service recipient can self-serve and choose the best delivery option, without the shipper needing to contract with various companies and prepare integrations. This way, we make our logistical environment complete and easy to contract for our clients,” comments the CEO.
