Event Takes Place from April 23 to 26 at São Paulo Expo
SSAB, a Swedish multinational and world leader in high-strength steel manufacturing, will be among the exhibitors at the 12th edition of M&T Expo – International Fair of Machinery and Equipment for Construction and Mining – which takes place from April 23 to 26 at São Paulo Expo in the capital of São Paulo. The main highlight of the Swedish company is Hardox® 500 Tuf steel.
The product offers extremely high abrasion resistance of 500 Brinell, exceptional crack propagation resistance and mechanical properties, all in a single steel plate. The material’s technology also boasts excellent processing properties, such as weldability, forming ability, and cutting, trademarks of SSAB products.
The new generation of Hardox® wear plates for dump trucks demonstrates its benefits through the “super light” bucket developed in partnership with CBMM and Rossetti Road Equipment. With two and a half tons less, the equipment became lighter and more efficient, resulting in higher load capacity, reduction in maintenance stops, and lower CO2 emissions. Additionally, the product provides greater durability and spacing between maintenance intervals, increasing productivity while maximizing the payload of the trucks.

According to Lisandro Peliciolli, General Sales Manager of SSAB South America – Atlantic, Hardox® 500 Tuf is one of the main promises for mining and construction equipment. “The results we achieved with this steel were only possible due to the exclusive combination of structural properties and wear and crack propagation resistance, making it a unique product in the market. There is a substantial gain in wear resistance throughout the bucket, and the need for additional support structures and reinforcements is practically eliminated, which considerably contributes to reducing the weight of the implement.”
“The end user benefits both from increased productivity with higher payload in each operational cycle, and from reduced operational and maintenance costs, as, in practice, the bucket becomes much lighter and more durable,” adds the executive.
SSAB is the only steel mill operating in Brazil that has a local technical team available to assist its customers at every step of the upgrade project for loading and transportation implements. Hardox® 500 Tuf, which will be the company’s highlight at M&T Expo 2024, is already available in SSAB Brazil’s stocks for immediate delivery.
