The state government closed with Neoenergia
Governor Camilo Santana signed a memorandum between the Government of Ceará and Neoenergia, a company controlled by the Spanish group Iberdrola, for the implementation of an urban mobility project using vehicles for public transport powered by green hydrogen. In the “Corredor Verde” project, Fortaleza will be the first city in Brazil to use green hydrogen in municipal public transport, using fuel cell buses. The pilot will be carried out in the capital of Ceará, and the goal is to reach 18 clean energy supply points.
Green hydrogen (H2V) is produced from renewable sources and is currently considered the pillar of global energy transformation because it can be obtained through the electrolysis of water, a carbon-free source.
“Green hydrogen is the energy of the future, and this Neoenergia project is a pioneering idea and is part of the global construction of renewable energies, and that we will be part of the decarbonization of the planet. It is a condition that has no return. They (Iberdrola) are already building their green hydrogen plant in Spain, and that is why we are now signing the memorandum”, explained Camilo Santana, governor of Ceará.
Ceará will receive the first hydrogen plant. BRL 41 million venture will start operating in 9
On September 01, EDP announced the implementation of its first green hydrogen production plant in the state of Ceará. The pilot unit is expected to start operating at the end of 09, in the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém. The venture will receive investments of R$ 2022 million, which includes a solar plant with a capacity of 41,9 MW and an electrolyser module for producing fuel from renewable energy. The modular unit will have the capacity to produce 3 Nm250/h of H3V.
In a live broadcast on social media, Governor Camilo Santana announced, alongside the board of directors of EDP do Brasil, the installation of the pilot project for the implementation of a green hydrogen plant in Pecém, with a production capacity of 250 Nm3/h of gas . The governor of the state of Ceará celebrated that the state is becoming the home of green hydrogen.
Camilo says that “We are happy to receive the news that the multinational EDP do Brasil will invest almost BRL 42 million in green hydrogen in Brazil, announcing that Ceará will have the first green hydrogen plant in the country. We have invested a lot in this clean energy, and EDP already generates more than 350 direct jobs in Ceará in Porto do Pecém with its thermoelectric plant, which produces almost half of the energy consumption of the entire state”.
The new green hydrogen plant will be installed in the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém, the plant will be the first of the group, with a capacity of 3 MW and a state-of-the-art electrolyser module for the production of fuel with a guarantee of renewable origin. The modular unit will have the capacity to produce 250 Nm3/h of gas. The H2 plant project was presented by the CEO of EDP in Brazil, João Marques da Cruz.
